Job brief


The Payroll Assistant is responsible for ensuring accurate processing and recording of Arch Telecom, Inc. payroll and provide timely and accurate financial information. The Payroll Assistant provides the highest level of customer service to all current and former employees of Arch Telecom, Inc. and its venders by answering questions and resolving payroll-relates issues in a timely manner.


We are looking for a qualified Payroll Assistant to assist in all activities regarding the management of employee compensation in the company. You will undertake a variety of tasks such as entering payroll information, calculating wages and making payments.


An excellent payroll assistant has great understanding of the concept of confidentiality. You will be experienced in entering data with attention to detail and will have good math skills to make the necessary calculations. The ideal candidate will be a thorough professional with good communication abilities.


The goal is to carry out all payroll procedures with speed and accuracy.


Essential Functions


  • Adjusts and deductions for each employee and manage payroll-related benefits, vacations and sick days.
  • Participate in problem solving and special projects within the HR/Payroll Department.
  • Data entry garnishment payments, tax levies or other court ordered withholdings
  • Communicate and interact with all levels of management.
  • Employee coding and data entry utilizing HRIS Paycom
  • Assist in Auditing of preview payroll reports prior to transmission.  Prepare and maintain employee files, assuring accuracy, compliance and confidentially.
  • Assist in internal/external payroll Audits
  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, tiime worked, paid leave and holidays, deduction
  • Providing payroll information by answering questions and requests
  • Goes over time sheets and paperwork to make sure the information is correct and consistent with actual hours worked by employees
  • Create and run reports as needed
  • Assist Accounting in reconciliation of all Payroll related items.
  • Manages expenses and reimbursements.

  • Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures and Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary.
  • Additional responsibilities assigned by director related to your position/department.


Required Experience


  • Knowledge of payroll laws and regulations
  • Data Entry Skills
  • Experience with Paycom Payroll System
  • Effective Oral and Written Communication Skills
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office and proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • 2 - 4 years of multi-state payroll experience in a corporate environment; comfortable processing payroll for 500+ employees.
  • Ability to adapt to the requirements by the department
