Patient Access Specialist - National Remote ($16.00 - $31.44 / Hour)

Primary Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments and verify accurate insurance plan code assignment
• Obtain authorizations for services requiring one and inform patients and providers if necessary authorizations are not obtained
• Utilize clinical knowledge to ensure doctor's orders align with provided diagnosis
• Coordinate schedules with other healthcare providers
• Inform patients of necessary preparation for procedures

Required Qualifications

• Ability to work any full-time shift between the hours of 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM PST (Pacific Standard Time zone) from Monday - Friday including the flexibility to work occasional overtime based on business need
• High School Diploma / GED (or higher) OR equivalent experience
• 1+ years of electronic health record experience
• 2+ years of customer service experience in a hospital, office setting, customer service setting, OR phone support role

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with using Microsoft Office products
• Experience in insurance verifications
• Experience in a hospital patient registration department, physician's office, OR any medical setting
• Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
• 1+ years of experience with prior authorizations, or scheduling
• Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
• Working knowledge of medical terminology
• Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
