The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications is looking for a part-time online section instructor for COM 627 – Social Media for Communicators (3 credits) for the July 2023 session (6/28/23-9/19/23).
Synchronous sessions for this section will be Wednesdays 7:00-8:45pm EST (7/5-9/13).
Description: Course examines strategic use of digital and social media platforms and tools for professional communication purposes, with emphasis on hands-on experience and skill. Students learn to analyze social media for communication industries.
This position is anticipated to be filled on a fully remote basis. Not all geographical areas within the United States are eligible. Qualifications
Master’s or Doctoral degree preferred.
Significant teaching and/or professional experience in the field.

Responsibilities
View the asynchronous content in advance of each weekly live session.
Conduct discussions for each week’s live session based on direction from the coordinator of COM 627. Be available to meet for these discussions on the online platform provided. Follow guidance of coordinator on topics related to the asynchronous material, student questions and progress, assignments and exams, and the introduction of timely topical news and information that may apply to course concepts, relevant case studies and articles.
Additional responsibilities include:
  • Meet all designated class periods.
  • Submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
  • Grade any assignments and exams in a timely manner based on instructions/rubrics provided.
  • Attend immersion sessions, if invited, when offered.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.

  • Ability to instruct the class on the online platform on the days it is designated to meet.
  • Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.
  • Ability to hold office hours.
