We are currently seeking candidates for teaching undergraduate Health, Exercise, and Sport Science (HESS) online courses specific to the discipline of Public Health. Under the direction of the Chair of the HESS department and the Director of UC Online, this position is responsible for teaching undergraduate public health education courses. This position contributes to the fulfillment of the mission of the University in offering quality academic programs with Christian values to students of all backgrounds.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintain clear, consistent records in iLearn (Blackboard) and Workday.
  • Participate in department-wide assessments.
  • Relationships and Human Behavior
  • Foundations of Health Science
  • Community and Environmental Health
  • Health and Wellness
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the HESS & Education departments and throughout the university.
  • Provide regular and timely feedback on student work within the maximum timeframe being 7 days.
  • Public Health Administration
  • Strategies and Practices for Health Professionals
  • Secondary & Lifespan Health (also needs Education background in addition to Public Health)
  • Follow university policies and procedures.
  • Adapt and align course materials using departmental syllabus templates, required text(s), and other resources.
  • Maintain regular communication with students through virtual office hours and e-mail (36 hours response requirement).
  • Responsible for teaching undergraduate public health courses, which could include but are not limited to:
    • Foundations of Health Science
    • Relationships and Human Behavior
    • Public Health Administration
    • Health and Wellness
    • Community and Environmental Health
    • Secondary & Lifespan Health (also needs Education background in addition to Public Health)
    • Strategies and Practices for Health Professionals
  • Respond to student evaluations.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • If applying to teach online: Experience teaching Public Health courses online.
  • Ongoing professional development.
  • Knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
  • Master in Public Health and MCHES certification
  • Student-focused teaching that addresses the needs of all learners, both traditional and nontraditional.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • PhD in Public Health, or a closely related field.
  • If applying to teach online: Experience in developing online courses in Public Health.
  • Experience with a variety of pedagogical and technological educational delivery methods.
