Part Time Assistant Professor - Mathematics

Position Summary
Part-time faculty members are valued as an integral and vital component of the University’s teaching staff, providing unique and valuable perspectives and contributions. We have an excellent opportunity for Part-Time Faculty to join our highly engaged teaching staff in the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. In this role, the successful candidate will teach lecture and laboratory courses to students seeking to gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills in Mathematics.
To deliver accessible world-class student experiences by providing quality programs and services that ensure student success through meaningful learning.
Note: This is a part-time position. The successful candidate will be teaching 4-week classes on-site in San Diego, Chula Vista, or Twentynine Palms, CA.
Essential Job Duties:

• Maintain a positive, safe, student-centric learning environment.
• Respond to student needs in a timely fashion or typically within 48 hours.
• Provide substantive feedback to students, grade assignments, and post grades.
• Lead classroom sessions on-site and/or online according to university policies.
• Participate in online class discussion boards.
• Provide expertise in assigned content area by maintaining current knowledge in the field.
• Emphasize student-centered learning by promoting student inquiries and encouraging participation in their own learning.

Required Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience teaching general education mathematics courses.
• Master’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics Education, or related field from a regionally accredited university.
• Must reside and be eligible to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience teaching mathematics online.
• Terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics Education, or related field from a regionally accredited university is preferred.

Compensation Range:
Hourly: $25.85 - $25.85
Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position.
