Job information

• Follow published Delegation of Authority guidelines and other purchasing policy and procedure. Maintain highest ethical standards when dealing with suppliers in concert with company policy.
• Exercise discretion and fairness when dealing with suppliers and all departments/individuals that interface with the Purchasing Department.
• Negotiate the return of defective, obsolete, and excess goods and obtain maximum return for the company.
• Analyze cost trends through research studies published in newspapers and periodicals and other media; participate in professional organizations to obtain and share market trends information on commodities.
• Evaluate and maintain priorities, responding to requisitions submitted to the Purchasing Department relative to assigned commodities. Must be able to effectively manage multiple tasks.
• Select suppliers based on published departmental guidelines and general knowledge of vendor capabilities and performance histories. Issues purchase orders while at the same time making sure goods and supplies arrive correctly, on time and at the lowest price.
• Assure all assigned commodities are routinely quoted. Negotiate price reductions from active suppliers and assure adjustments are held to a minimum to ensure maximum value is received.
• Perpetuate and attitude of service and professionalism, which is essential to generate and maintain an atmosphere of cooperation and respect between departments outside the company.
• Participate in ongoing developmental programs to improve skills in supplier evaluation, contract negotiations, value analysis, communications, market trends, legal aspects of purchasing and other such educational opportunities.

• Proficient in SAP and MS Office products
• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
