Job Description

Performs a wide variety of general clerical and/or account keeping functions encompassing a range of diverse but routine functions including basic processing, reception, filing, record keeping, bookkeeping, data entry, and typing with speed and accuracy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute efforts to increase the engagement of public health students across the state in the Alliance’s work.
  • Attend staff meetings and events.
  • Track and attend presentations about current state policy issues.
  • Assist with collecting information for newsletters and communications.
  • Support with meetings such as calendaring, preparing materials and reports, editing and formatting documents, and taking meeting notes.
  • Current state & local health policy priorities
  • Environmental assessment of current curriculum and resources supporting a diverse and antiracist public health workforce
  • Shadow meetings with Alliance staff.
  • Support with updating and maintaining listservs.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
  • Collecting research on the power of community and academic partnerships as well as the broader category of collective impact
  • Identifying priorities of community-based organizations and advocates in California with an active interest in health and health equity
  • Help to conduct research on a variety of topics aligned with Alliance priorities. Examples of past and current projects include:
  • Support with the planning of Alliance events.
  • Learn about policy advocacy.
  • Assist with developing and updating content for social media and website.
  • Program evaluation
  • Funding opportunities aligned with Alliance work
Other Qualifications
  • Spanish speaking and writing skills are preferred.
  • Works well with a variety of personalities; embraces teamwork.
  • Ability to remain energetic and positive in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies; experience in using technology to improve work efficiency.
  • Experience with social media and creating content for social media.
  • Exceptional professionalism, including discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including expertise in writing.
  • Great time management skills, attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365.
