About the Team
The Music Rights team works under the business development team to fulfill copyright related product and operational requirements for our music partners. The main area of focus for this team is to ensure that Bytedance properly abides by both our licensing agreements with music rightsholders as well as international copyright laws. As a member of this team, you will be exposed to many diverse intersections of the business including product, licensing, legal, and operations. This role will be an integral part of a team that oversees all business-related responsibilities for ByteDance's content management and copyright identification software with a specific focus on scaling copyright compliance and enforcement operations for all bytedance-owned music products. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of copyright licensing laws and prior experience working at a music company in copyright compliance, fraud detection, or anti-piracy.
Responsibilities

• Create documentation and/or training exercises for internal business teams and external music partners about copyright compliance.
• Create and develop scalable processes related to copyright enforcement and fraud detection internally within the company and externally with our music partners.
• Work with the music product team to come up with technical solutions to automate identification of fraudulent activity and copyright enforcement for all bytedance music products.
• Build and foster relationships with anti-piracy/copyright compliance teams from around the music industry.
• Run backend audits of delivered catalogs and partner activities in order to ensure the integrity of our music ecosystem remains intact.
• Prior experience using a rights management software such as YouTube's Content ID or Facebook's Rights Manager preferred but not necessary
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent practical experience
• Solid understanding of music copyright law and licensing for digital platforms
• Work directly with internal legal and business teams to advise on copyright-related situations.
• 3+ years of relevant experience working at a music label, distributor, or publisher, preferably in a copyright compliance or anti-piracy role
