Job Description
Thank you for considering a career opportunity with Moonbug Entertainment, an award-winning global entertainment company inspiring kids everywhere to laugh, learn and grow. The company is behind some of the biggest kids’ entertainment brands in the world including CoComelon and Blippi. Moonbug believes every child should have access to our entertaining and enriching content, which is why our shows are available on more than 150 video platforms globally including Netflix, Disney+, BBC iPlayer and YouTube Kids. Moonbug is also a global leader in pre-school music and audio experiences, available on 100+ audio platforms globally. Moonbug brands extend far beyond the screen to include streaming music, toys, games, books, live events, and even theme park exhibits.

Moonbug is part of Candle Media, an independent, creator-friendly home for cutting-edge, high-quality, category-defining brands and franchises. By bringing together elite talent operating at the intersection of content, community, and commerce, it helps to position leading entertainment businesses for accelerated, sustainable growth in the current market and beyond. Candle is run by its Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs, leading entertainment executives Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs, and backed by investment capital from funds managed by Blackstone’s flagship private equity business.

The Role:

Moonbug is seeking a full-time Music Production Coordinator to support the Production team and liaise with the music distribution team. This role is based in our West Hollywood office in the heart of California. At Moonbug, you will be working with some of the biggest brands in family entertainment; one of the fastest-growing genres in music.

The successful candidate will have strong project management skills. You will need to be digitally confident, self-sufficient, organized, detail oriented and be ready to adapt to new challenges at a fast pace.

We would like to see someone who has been working in some sort of production capacity, however this role could also suit someone with great organizational and musical skills that wants to step into the production world.

Reporting to the Music Production Manager, you will be coordinating the music production for multiple children’s brands, and will be able to organize assets including audio stems, cue sheets, budgets, purchase orders, and contracts on time for delivery deadlines, as well as communicate with multiple talent and freelancers on a weekly basis.

This role reports ON-SITE at our West Hollywood office.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify issues or concerns if they occur, determine the cause of these issues and identify, prioritize, and select alternatives for a solution based on the workflows and resources provided by the department and company
  • Set up music production workflows for newly established streams
  • Supporting music production staff with day to day tasks and issues in a timely manner
  • Ensure audio files and metadata are delivered across multiple platforms and teams by the delivery deadline, or deadline provided by the manager.
  • You must meet the deadlines provided by your manager. This includes completing all tasks, meeting goals, and coordinating projects.
  • Identify issues or concerns if they come up, determine the cause of these issues, and identify, prioritize, and select alternatives for a solution based on the research from the documents and tools provided.
  • Organize and deliver previously released assets for cataloging and distribution.
  • Track production schedules for episode deliveries and album releases, and communicate changes to the creative and production teams
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate multiple areas of production simultaneously - sending assignments to our talent and freelancers, as well as delivering completed assets to the creative and production teams by their deadlines

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication, in particular with external talent and representation.
  • Strong understanding of music production processes.
  • For instance, you pass information without reviewing it, you wait for your manager to provide you with the next steps, or specifically ask you to do something that should be already done as part of your daily routine. There is no initiative taken to improve processes and procedures that are included in your role. You expect your manager to provide you with tools such as templates so you could perform more efficiently.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment across multiple projects, softwares, and teams. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, and builds a daily routine of their responsibilities rather than waiting for them to be requested.
  • Self-starter and motivated to improve processes and workflow.
  • Attention to detail is crucial. The candidate must be diligent and proactive about reviewing their work or any work that goes through their day to day responsibilities.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office and Google Workplace

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Monday.com, FTrack, and/or digital audio workstations (Cubase, Logic, ProTools, etc.)
  • Flexible and highly motivated.
  • Any musical skill is beneficial but not essential.
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about children's entertainment, media and music.
  • Approachable and optimistic.
