Job Description
Medicare Billing Specialist
Home Healthcare, Hospice, and Community Services Inc (HCS) is a 115-year-old Medicare Certified Home Health and Hospice Agency located in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire. In addition to traditional home healthcare and hospice services, HCS serves the community with a variety of social service programs including community foot clinics, social worker block granted family visiting services, onsite adult day care, bus transportation, Meals on Wheels, and community education - all of which draw from a variety of City, County, Town, and philanthropic funding streams.
The Medicare Billing Specialist is responsible for the preparation, submission, and recordings of all insurance billing and payments for Medicare. This position could be fully remote or be hybrid with some time in our Keene office and some time at home.
Job Responsibilities
  • This position will back up Billing Department personnel.
  • Review posted payments and adjustments, research payment issue.
  • Communicate with Medicare, clinical and audit team to promote timely payments.
  • Maintain patient information and make appropriate changes.
  • Review all billing for coding accuracy.
  • Review daily reports for errors and make appropriate corrections.
  • Produce patient statements and mail.
  • Prepare secondary insurance submissions where applicable.
Requirements
  • Associates degree in accounting or equivalent work experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of two years Medicare billing experience
  • The ability to clearly communicate with staff at all levels and the ability to work independently
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and Medicare reimbursement system
