The Manager, OMNI Transportation will oversee parcel, less than truckload transportation, and Dangerous Goods compliance for Harbor Freight. This person provides technical expertise and guidance to assure the safe and compliant transportation of regulated materials for Harbor Freight’s Supply Chain. The Manager, Omni Transportation is an analytical professional who passionately leads projects, enjoys quantitative problem solving, metrics, research, and seeing improvement from these actions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Build a strong culture that is focused on a total end to end approach to optimize performance for the company.
- Other duties as needed per the business
- Research government regulations and new or pending regulations that could affect Dangerous Goods business practices.
- Constantly review the evolving network to ensure that HFT freight is optimized in terms of cost and performance and assist the third-party transportation provider in carrier selection as we optimize the new and existing network.
- Establish carrier-direct relationships with parcel, final-mile, national and regional LTL carriers.
- Work directly with Finance business partners, allocations, and the third-party transportation provider to define and refine budgets.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of the position
- Establish KPIs and monitor service level expectations, and ensure all carriers operate within compliance and leading performance management directly with the carriers when necessary.
- Willingness to challenge current processes to improve partnerships and services.
- Works with Harbor Freight internal stakeholders to implement Dangerous Goods policies, Standard Operating Procedures, training materials, and controls to support a culture of compliance with applicable regulations.
- Serve as the liaison and subject matter expert (SME) for Dangerous Goods, and final-mile delivery.
- Build a culture of continuous improvement with planned effort in core logistics metrics such service, cost, and key foundational systems such as quality, safety, security, and sustainability.
- Work with internal business partners to provide regulatory guidance on packaging specifications, marking, labeling, and shipping documents to support day-to-day DG operation.
- Challenge existing practices to drive both service and cost efficiencies within the supply network.
- Modernizes and leads automation projects to bring best tools to the front line for identifying and processing Dangerous Goods shipments.

Job Qualifications – Education and Experience
- Advanced computer and analytical skills
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills, including the ability to work remotely effectively with a wide variety of people and functions.
- Detail-oriented, organized, reliable and resourceful.
- Experience building a budget and/or P&L management.
- 5+ years of experience in LTL and first & final mile (courier) logistics.
- Ability to lead the development of both tactical and strategic plans to drive customer service levels, financial budgets, and cost savings initiatives.
- BS in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Business Management or related field
- 3+ years of experience leading carrier procurement strategies, and establishing pricing, and service contracts.
- Current knowledge of and experience with best-in-class logistics technology platforms, including TMS, YMS, APIs, and billing systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, presentation and partnering skills
- Certified in Dangerous Goods Shipping (IATA/CFR49/DOT/ICAO)
- Define metrics and cadence for effective communication with carriers.
- Ability to collaborate and desire to work cross-functionally
The anticipated salary range for this position is $111,800 – $167,800 depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits to Associates (and their families) such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability. Eligible Associates are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Associates will accrue paid time off up to 236 hours per year (inclusive of PTO, floating holidays, and paid holidays). Paid sick time up to 80 hours per year unless otherwise required by law.
