Position Overview:


The Ready To Learn (RTL) project is a joint initiative of PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). It focuses on the development and dissemination of content across media and platforms to improve learning for children ages 2-8, and providing support and services to educators, parents and other caregivers in low income communities. The Learning Neighborhood Engagement Manager will collaborate to develop and implement professional learning communities and experiences for the Learning Neighborhood stations and will support RTL Family and Community workshops and other engagement models in communities across the country.


Working closely with PBS member stations and local and national partners, the Manager will help to build awareness of RTL resources designed to support educators and families, support stations’ on-the-ground activities and engagement, and foster community building and collaboration. The incumbent will collaborate across PBS KIDS and CPB to meet the goals of the project.


To enhance Ready to Learn objectives, the Manager should have experience developing community engagement and capacity building experiences; listening to and elevating community voices; developing professional development for community/station educators, delivering trainings and webinars; giving presentations; and developing new programs.


Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Station Communications & Implementation Support: Build and foster collaborative relationships with PBS member stations and support the development of collaborative relationships amongst those teams. Serves as the primary point of contact between the PBS KIDS RTL team and Learning Neighborhood stations to support implementation of engagement models and community building strategies on the ground.
  • Station Training & Capacity Building: Develop and deliver in-person, hybrid, and virtual trainings and events for RTL Learning Neighborhood stations in collaboration with PBS staff, member stations, advisors, and national partners.
  • Logistics Support: Provide logistical support to the Early Learning Engagement team around community engagement activities, including advisor convenings, conference presentations, PBS KIDS Edcamp and educator ambassador programs.
  • Project Management: Project manage all RTL station training and capacity-building activities, including logistics, outreach, project documents, timelines, and deliverables.
  • RTL Fulfillment: Manage production, inventory, sourcing, vendor relationships, and a part-time fulfillment coordinator to provide ongoing support to stations in planning, ordering and receiving RTL engagement materials.


Requirements for success:


  • Experience in working cross-functionally across organization

  • Ability to build and sustain strong relationships with all partners
  • Strong conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to translate ideas into action
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in professional learning communities, partner development, and/or community engagement
  • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in leading virtual, hybrid and in-person professional learning experiences
  • Experience in developing and managing partnerships
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for inclusion, diversity, and equity in family, educator, and community engagement
  • Knowledge of PreK-2 educational media field, and community and station engagement preferred
  • Can take big picture ideas and execute creative deliverables across multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate mission and purpose in a clear and concise manner
  • Experience in public speaking
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task, set priorities and execute a variety of projects within time and budget constraints
  • Willingness to travel 20-25% of time
  • Experience in program management
