Description
We are seeking a skilled legal contracts coordinator. This position requires a strong background in healthcare, carrier, network and third-party administrator (TPA) related matters. The successful candidate will collaborate with outside counsel, conduct contract reviews, provide legal advice, ensure HIPAA compliance, draft documents, complete non-disclosure agreements (NDA’s), and stay up to date with ERISA and other relevant laws and regulations.
In this role you will have to have a high degree of responsibility for project management and implementation and will frequently be providing clerical and research support services including drafting and managing contracts, research, fact checking and liaising with outside counsel and other attorneys for document preparation and review. The primary focus of this role will be contract review, redlining and other related tasks. A background in employee benefits would be advantageous.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Drafting, negotiation and execution of contracts, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Redline contracts, negotiate terms and communicate with external parties to reach mutually beneficial agreements.
- Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Perform comprehensive contract reviews, identifying potential discrepancies/risks and make recommendations for revisions.
- Conduct thorough legal research to stay current on relevant laws, regulations and industry best practices, with a particular emphasis on ERISA, HIPAA and other applicable healthcare laws.
- Prepare and review non disclosure agreements (NDA’s) and other related legal documents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as finance, operations and implementation to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with attorneys and legal teams to review and analyze healthcare-related contracts, including carrier, network and TPA agreements.
- Stay knowledgeable in industry trends, emerging legal issues and changes in healthcare regulations and communicate relevant updates to internal departments and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and organized legal documentation including contract databases and records.
- Support outside counsel in regulatory compliance investigations and other legal proceedings.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High ethical standards and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of records, information and data privacy.
- Strong understanding of healthcare terminology, laws and regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA and related employee benefit laws.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills to maintain accurate legal documentation and records.
- Proficient in computer skills, including MS Office Suite and contract management software.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identity ambiguities in contracts along with excellent verbal and written communication skills to include spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style.
- Knowledge of contract review, contract drafting, redlining and negotiation processes.
- Proven experience working as a healthcare paralegal or similar legal role, with a focus on healthcare, carrier, network and TPA matters.
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies, Law or related field.
- Paralegal certificate and two to three years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, work experience and training required. Paralegal certificate preferred from ABA-approved program, but will consider experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to affectively collaborate with cross-functional departments, outside counsel, and stakeholders with the ability to develop strong rapport with various department staff.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with legal research tools and techniques to stay current on healthcare laws and regulations.
