The Lead Building Engineer is responsible for the oversight of all day to day maintenance and operations at multiple locations in the Northern Virginia area. This position involves coordination with the Chief Engineer as well as Property Management to ensure that all maintenance resources, including funds, materials, and equipment are being used in the most efficient manner possible in order to meet departmental objectives.. The Lead Building Engineer is to serve as the primary engineer for the properties ensuring that all tenant requests are completed in a timely fashion. Additionally, the Lead Engineer will ensure that outside vendors and other maintenance personnel complete scheduled work in a timely fashion while following all policies, procedures, protocols and controls. The Lead Engineer will also be responsible for periodically overseeing the work of a junior engineer.
Job Responsibilities
- Submittal of a Daily Report detailing the hours worked at each property along with a brief description of the work completed.
- Schedule required State inspections on elevators, fire & sprinkler systems, backflow devices, electrical systems should be closely monitored and tracked to ensure compliance.
- Other Duties as assigned.
- Coordination and oversight of 3rd party vendors and service contractors ensuring strict adherence to the scope of work and building rules/regulations.
- Provide technical assistance on all critical building functions including a full range of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire & life safety, and related software systems and components.
- Responding to tenant service requests
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule with other Engineers.
- Maintain inventory of adequate supplies and tools for assigned property.
- Provide supervision, training, and guidance to junior maintenance staff to ensure that maintenance objectives are completed in a timely and professional manner:
- Systematically perform and document preventative maintenance tasks and inspections
- Operate and maintain all base building mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and security/life safety systems in accordance with standard industry procedure and jurisdictional codes.
