Job Description

Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer contributes to a team responsible for creating, modifying, and troubleshooting industrial equipment used to produce products. Your responsibilities are to support Operations, R&D, Sales, and Maintenance groups on continuous improvement/develop of new equipment and processes, maintaining and improving existing equipment and increase capabilities for an expanding product line. You will spend your days actively engaging other team members to develop processes and equipment that meet the business needs.

Essential Duties:

  • · Evaluates manufacturing processes by conducting research, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, materials, conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators
  • · Maintain existing equipment by coordinating with internal maintenance department and/or outside repair services, following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures
  • · Manage internal and external projects by developing schedules and budgets, resource planning, documentation, develop vendor partnerships, progress reporting, risk assessment and team leadership.
  • · Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, trade shows, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
  • · Produce engineering documentation such as standardized work procedures, operational manuals and troubleshooting guides
  • · Data collection and statistical analysis of manufacturing related metrics (run rates, downtime, scrap, margins, costs, etc.)
  • · Complete design of equipment/components either internally or manage outsource manufacturing
  • · Develop machine specifications as needed, either individually or as part of cross-departmental team
  • · Develops/improves manufacturing processes by analyzing product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, conferring with equipment vendors, and testing manufacturing equipment
  • · Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing production data, planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout
  • · Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing work or quality standards, confirming manufacturing processes.
  • · Create FAT/SAT acceptance criteria confirming equipment or process meets specifications
  • · Develop functional designs, drawings, assemblies and BOMs

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of geometric tolerancing and dimensioning
  • Familiar with safety programs such as Dupont STOP and OSHA compliance
  • Familiar with document control, AutoDesk Vault experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering from 4 year ABET accredited program
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficient in 3D modeling, AutoDesk Inventor preferred, and AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of ERP systems
