IT Specialist
We are looking for an IT “Jack or Jill of all trades” to encompass the following high level core functions which will have some overlap. The percentages of time spent on each are approximate and will change depending on priorities.
IT Governance and Security – 50%
Technical Project Management – 30%
Business Analyst – 20%
The individual roles are defined below but not all inclusive.
IT Governance and Security
- Risk Assessment – Plan, develop and implement processes and procedures for the identification, assessment and reporting of risk across IT.
- Risk Mitigation - Manage risks relating to information technology and cyber-security. Interface with the Cyber Security SOC team and SIEM tools as part of risk identification and mitigation.
- Audits – Be point on and manage all internal and external audits including client and external security audits. Respond to client and prospect security questionnaires.
- Framework – Bring all security documentation up to date with current standards and frameworks.
- Review current and proposed information systems for compliance with the company’s business strategy.
- Overall - Providing governance, risk, and compliance insights to drive improvement across IT.
- Recommendations - Provide insights and recommendations on risk management and mitigation, compliance posture and security posture to the executive team.
- Assist with harvesting technical exhibits.
- Assist in identifying and implementing new tools to add to the security stack.
- Develop standard operating procedures for IT systems to ensure compliance with corporate governance.
- Manage and maintain all security documentation and exhibits.
- Compliance - Measure and monitor IT compliance with internal policies, procedures, controls, and various standards (SOC, PCI, ISO)
- Maintain and manage the Cyber Security Training program and process.
Technical Project Management
Assist IT management with overseeing all aspects of any project in IT, which may include managing/coordinating teams of internal and offshore resources to ensure projects are completed on time and within their specified budgets. Some functions may include but not be limited to:
- Use project management tools to track project performance and schedule adherence.
- Set project goals and come up with plans to meet those goals.
- Coordinate with project team members and develop schedules and individual responsibilities.
- Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
- Manage technical difficulties, working with developers when necessary.
- Be a driving force.
- Contribute.
- Implement IT strategies that deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
- Maintain project timeframes, budgeting estimates and status reports.
- Organize and participate in stand up and other meetings to discuss project goals and progress.
- Manage resources for projects, such as computer equipment and human resources.
- Conduct risk assessments for projects.
Business Analyst
- Keep up to date on the latest applications of IT to understand what can be leveraged for new projects.
- Perform deep dives into existing applications, systems, data and tools to speak intelligently to all.
- Understand data flows.
- Translate business requirements into detailed technical documents and maintain same as they change.
- Collaborate with department team members to understand organizational and operational challenges.
Requirements
- Experience with vulnerability scanning solutions.
- CISSP or similar certification
- Established skills in time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization of work
- Proven work experience as a Cyber Security Specialist or similar role
- Effective communications skills including written, verbal, and presentation.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting skills
- Ability to collaborate, working closely with both functional and technical teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
- Proficiency with Endpoint Detection and Remediation, MFA, Zero Trust, email security, 365 and Azure AD and other cyber security related tools.
- Hands-on experience analyzing high volumes of logs, network data and other attack artifacts
- Ability to remain flexible as priorities change, adaptable to change, and able to accept ambiguity.
- Ability to translate technical or complex concepts into user-friendly language.
7-10 years industry experience in IT and related disciplines.
