IT Manager

ABOUT THE INNOCENCE PROJECT

The Innocence Project works to free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair, compassionate, and equitable systems of justice for everyone. Our work is guided by science and grounded in anti-racism. Since our inception, the Innocence Project has used DNA and other scientific advancements to prove wrongful conviction. To date, we have helped to free or exonerate more than 200 people who, collectively, spent more than 3,600 years behind bars. Our efforts have led to the passage of more than 200 transformative state laws and federal reforms. ABOUT THE POSITION

The IT Manager provides support and administration of technology systems used throughout the organization including desktop and laptop hardware, server hardware, virtualization infrastructure for servers and desktops, network and conference rooms. They provide technical oversight and coordination of relationships with IT managed service vendors to ensure maximum availability of technology systems to support the work of the Innocence Project.

The IT Manager reports to the IT Director, works closely with the IT Support Specialist and supports approximately 120 users. This position has no direct reports.

The duties of this position require approximately 40 hours of work per week to be performed 4 days in-office and one day remotely. Coverage of other IT personnel is required so that on occasion the IT Manager will need to be in-office 5 days per week.

We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas.

While the Innocence Project has supported remote work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we are currently committed to a hybrid workplace with mandatory three days per week in-office. The number of required in-office days is subject to change.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

HELPDESK SUPPORT FUNCTIONS

  • Manage the IT portion of user on-boarding and off-boarding including forms to collect information, provisioning of user accounts, and initial user technology orientation
  • Provide training to users on new systems or as needed to new users
  • Support users in use of conference rooms and online meeting software
  • Serve as the primary support contact for workstation assistance, diagnosing and resolving device and network problems, including issues with desktops, laptops, printers, and scanners running on Windows and Mac OS.
  • Maintain IT inventory of technology including ensuring spare equipment is available when warranted

SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION

  • Manage the Citrix / Azure virtual server infrastructure in coordination with IT managed services vendor and the IT Director
  • Manage the implementation of new systems or changes to existing systems using internal and external resources as needed

GENERAL SUPPORT OF IT UNIT

  • Support the technology needs of the Network Support Unit at the yearly conference (900+ attendees)
  • Maintain up to date with trainings and knowledge necessary for the security of the organization
  • Advise on renewal or replacement of old hardware and software infrastructure as the needs of the organization evolve, and provide recommendations to IT Director for upcoming technology needs
  • Ensure up to date IT procedures and documentation are maintained in coordination with IT managed services vendor and IT Director

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years experience in an IT-related position, or equivalent education
  • MCP Microsoft Certification (preferred)
  • 3 years experience supporting and troubleshooting latest Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications in a corporate network environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • 3 years experience providing direct support to internal users in an IT-related position
  • Proven ability to work with external technology managed services vendors
  • Experience working with a Help Desk trouble ticket system
  • Bachelors’ and specialized technical degree/training/certification, or equivalent specialized relevant experience
