We are seeking a motivated, highly organized, and forward-thinking leader for our Marketing PMO (Project Management Organization) team focused on the Nordy Club. The Nordy Club is our loyalty program that gives our customers rewards, access and experiences for Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack. The Manager, Marketing PMO is part of the PMO Leadership Team and a working manager who oversees the Nordy Club project management planning, hands-on leads campaign development, and develops performance reporting. This includes partnering with Marketing and Loyalty Strategy and Operations teams for all strategic planning efforts by providing operational support, leading the development of a high-level portfolio plan, and creating forecasting plans for portfolios on an ongoing basis. They also ensure campaign/project initiation/development/delivery by overseeing a team of project management professionals. This role is a steward of the marketing process and project management lifecycle. They are accountable for evolving processes by finding or championing opportunities for continuous improvement through automation, efficiencies and new/refined workstreams.
A day in the life...
Lead & Develop a Team: Oversee the work and career development of a team of project management professionals that could include Program Managers, Sr. Project Managers and/or Project Managers through direct supervision, mentoring, and training.
  • Lead the tiering of programs and campaigns to identify prioritization and associated timing and process alignment along with business partners
  • Model and teaching a strong and empathetic leadership style with innovative project management expertise
  • Ensure adjustments to the portfolio are created and documented plans adjusted based on business shifts as communicated from partners
  • Invest in their direct report’s career and skill development that complement their natural strengths, develop weakness areas, and align with the Nordstrom Values
  • Create opportunities for formal and informal project management training, business training, and personal development
  • Oversee the portfolios of work for each direct report ensuring effective workflow management and alignment to processes and procedures set forth by the PMO
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings regularly and half-yearly and annual evaluations to ensure development and performance alignment with employees
  • Drive portfolio planning by outlining forecasted marketing work to aid planning and resource management.
  • Hire and onboarding new talent into the PMO as it changes or grows to ensure the right skill and culture fit
  • Partner with Brand/Product Marketing or Loyalty Operations to translate annual/half-yearly/quarterly planning into estimated programs and campaigns for the fiscal year for the Nordy Club and associated portfolio work, including credit and gift cards
  • Provide feedback in the form of appreciation, coaching, and evaluation on an ongoing basis
  • Provide visibility and reporting to portfolio forecasted work to assist with planning efforts and resourcing
Portfolio Planning:

Project Lifecycle Management: Championing the processes and workflow to safeguard consistency while flexing when required for program/campaign and project success.
  • Create RACI documentation to solidify project team involvement, roles, and responsibilities for complex or higher-priority programs/campaigns
  • Identify and proactively resolving any deliverables that might fall behind schedule
  • Facilitate project approvals for internal stakeholders
  • Communicate project status, approvals, risk, and delivery
  • Ensure upfront project requirements/scoping is received and are aligned with the appropriate project priority and workflow
  • Lead program/campaign management direction by representing the PMO and operational expert for project teams
  • Capture milestone dates and overall timelines regularly, validating, and adjusting timelines as needed
  • Provide direction and overseeing schedule management for supporting Sr. Project Managers and Project Managers on supporting executional projects
  • Oversee executional program/campaign project work to ensure alignment with overall program/campaign timelines
  • Create comprehensive high/mid/low-level project plans for forecasted programs/campaigns to aid in initiation and alignment and are based on scope, timing, deadlines, and resources
Process Management: Developing new processes, evolving existing processes and ensuring effective training and communication around critical and dependent path advancements.
  • Understand and clarify for teams the difference between critical path impacts and a dependent path with tied dependent milestones
  • Lead or participate in process task teams, ensuring a cross-functional collective evolution of the process and providing PMO leadership and partner alignment
  • Utilize a partnership approach in constructing and leading cross-functional process improvement teams
  • Create process training rollout communication plans to effectively train employees, customizing approaches to different levels of the organization as needed
  • Champion the evolution of process and the project management lifecycle by finding opportunities for continuous improvement through automation, realizing efficiencies, and redefining workflows
Supplier or Partner Management: Playing the operational point of contact for outside agencies, production suppliers, collaborators, and/or influencers as projects require. This management can vary based on scope/engagement but could contain the following:
  • Communicating or escalating supplier or partner risks/issues with the appropriate single point of contact for that relationship when it impacts project progression
  • Assist creative production resources in scope, schedule, or delivery timing related to the outside supplier/partner
  • Ensure all parties understand project timelines and deliverables
  • Solidify partner roles and responsibilities as outlined in a RACI
Project Management System Coordination: Orchestrating all assigned books of work activities and documentation within the PMO technology support systems from project creation through close-out procedures.
  • Proactively suggesting system enhancements and system short-cuts to the administration team
  • Leverage reporting to analyze, translate, and communicate trends or project insights
  • Manage data entry into systems as required to ensure proper project execution
  • Certify the system centrally houses all project requirements, schedules, documentation, and project approvals

  • Expert knowledge and application of project management principles
  • 5-7 years of program/project management experience in marketing, advertising, or design
  • Leadership confidence and one-team approach
  • Curiosity and never afraid to ask "Why?"
  • At least 2 years of managing other project management professionals
  • Deep understanding of marketing and creative planning and execution processes
  • Expert in risk management and mitigation
  • Savvy and genuine negotiation skills
  • Understanding of process methodologies: predictive, agile, and hybrid
  • Connected within the Marketing & Creative Operations professional community for networking and benchmarking purposes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize accordingly to changing deadlines
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Mass Communication, or equivalent experience
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Strong Mac OS computer skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Competent in report development, analysis, and delivery
  • Prior experience working in a project management software solution (Workfront)
