Qualifications
  • Highly effective communicator; adept at influencing and engaging with all types of audiences to cultivate trust-based, peer-counselor relationships
  • Experience in working in highly dynamic cross-functional and global teams
  • Issue spotting and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong entrepreneurial drive and ownership mentality to progress on ambiguous problems and see them through to resolution
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience in risk, ethics, compliance and/or governance in a large corporate or professional services environment
  • Relevant experience in developing and driving compliance programs, organizational risk assessments, and/or other compliance and risk capability areas
  • University degree, advanced degree or professional certifications preferred (JD, CPA, or other relevant)
  • Knowledge of audit methodology, compliance program operation, or deep regulatory subject matter expertise, or work knowledge across a variety of regulatory topics preferred
What You'll Do
You will play a critical role in co-drafting and co-leading the annual risk assessment process. You will also play a major role in our broader efforts to enable a culture of firm-wide compliance by developing tailored messaging, accountability measures, and incentivizing programs.
In this role, you will be a principal contributor to annual risk assessments that cover the full breadth of regulatory risks across our firm. You will be responsible for leveraging internal and external data sources to drive a robust and comprehensive risk assessment. You will also support development of proper remediation actions and clear recommendations to ensure the appropriate allocation of required resources. You will work with stakeholders across the firm to proactively identify new or emerging risks, assess their controls, and develop mitigation approaches.
You will also support various workstreams to help enable a culture of compliance within our firm through messaging and tone that we set through our senior leaders and across the organization generally. You will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across internal functions to develop and build upon strategies to embed a mindset around shared accountability and determine specific accountability mechanisms. You will also be a key contributor for creating incentivizing opportunities or programs for further enablement.

You will be part of McKinsey’s Ethics and Compliance function, whose mission is to enable McKinsey’s client impact and innovation, while managing risks to the firm, our clients, and our people. The Ethics and Compliance function is a globally integrated team within the second line of defense of the firm.
This role reports to the associate director of Risk Assessments and Culture and will be based in one of our North America offices.
You will work with experienced compliance professionals who are passionate about protecting our firm. Your colleagues will include experts in risk management, compliance culture, and testing & surveillance. As a member of the Shared Capabilities group you will have opportunities to assist in a variety of other strategic initiatives, including policy and procedure governance as well as monitoring and response activities.
