This role sits within the Investment Banking Division’s (IBD) Management team.


Role Summary


The IBD Reporting and Data Governance Analyst will be responsible for proactively managing client-specific data and reporting processes to support the Investment Bank. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the client data driving business strategy and regulatory obligations as well as that the business’ ongoing reporting needs and requirements are met. These will include, but not be limited to, supporting updates to client profiles and designs, builds, tests and validation of new or existing reports through data research and analysis. You will also develop and maintain both ad-hoc and scheduled reports to support internal business functions, while leveraging the most effective reporting tools for each need. You will also participate as a key stakeholder within a multiyear digital and data transformation initiative for the Investment Bank.


The Responsibilities Include


  • Work closely within the team and with stakeholders across the business, technology and risk to integrate data into new banker tools in a sustainable workflow and documenting processes and procedures
  • Experience translating business problems/requests into data requirements and analysis with different stakeholders or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Relevant training/experience in analytics, business intelligence, data science, and/or statistical methods
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills, experience with databases, table design, joins, data aggregation, data validation, etc.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills
  • Analyze and support the production of various standard and ad-hoc reports for the business
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and ensure timely, accurate deliverables
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree required in Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field with 1-5 years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience querying and processing large data sets
  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather data, reporting, and analysis needs; apply critical thinking to either create new long-term solutions or support one time only ad hoc requests when needed; stay informed of changing business rules to maintain up-to-date and great quality reports and analyses
  • Serve as central point of contact for all reporting requests, coordinate data analytic requests and aid in report design and distribution
  • Maintain databases and other systems to ensure data quality and accuracy


Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $65,000 and $125,000 per year for Analyst and between $85,000 and $140,000 per year for Associate, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
