The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is a dynamic and innovative leader in setting and implementing controls to protect and improve air quality for the citizens of California. CARB's scientific and technical programs rely extensively on data and web-based information systems. The mission of CARB's Office of Information Services (OIS) is to leverage the most effective information technologies available to achieve CARB's program goals. This mission includes ensuring that such technologies are professionally managed, properly maintained and secured, and efficiently utilized.

Under the general management of the IT Manager I (ITM I) the IT Specialist II (ITS II) will focus on full stack development of the CARB web-based applications along with the tenant administration of the CARB Acquia PaaS. The ITS II is a lead role for the technology and conducts business activities in a professional manner that leads to superior customer satisfaction and delivers services that meet or exceed the customer's expectations. The ITS II is responsible for individual decisions and actions while working on systems using best practices and innovative technologies. When handling confidential personnel and/or business data, the ITS II must maintain confidentiality and ensure the CARB web applications are highly available and the CARB websites comply with AB 434 and guidelines from the California Department of Technology.

Positions at CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.
