We are looking for an experienced hybrid product/creative designer who will be one of 2 full -time designers on the team. You will help define product and creative strategy, and produce designs and assets yourself for branding, illustration, motion design and product design.

Reporting to the Product Design Director, we are looking for someone who is excited about the range of design responsibility and the prospect of balancing high-level strategy with detailed design work and production.

You Will:

• Design assets for marketing use including emails, social, videos and public web pages
• Work on a collaborative and fast team. Your closest peers will be engineers, product, data, marketing and product design.
• Contribute to the wider product and marketing strategies alongside your peers
• Work on and help define one of Square’s most exciting new products designing end-to-end flows for iOS, Android and web.
• Advocate for our consumers and a first class design experience
• Lead the vision and execution of the Square Go brand, including illustrations and icons and motion for use on web and in app.

Qualifications

This role is for you if:

• You are excited about working on everything and anything across product and creative, we don't believe in lanes.
• You are someone who sees opportunity and acts on it. You assume everything is your responsibility
• Are comfortable with sharing early and often, and iterating.
• You know when to go deep and when to move fast, and enjoy both
• You are very hands-on and can produce work quickly and always find a way forward.

You Have:

• A portfolio of product design work that includes multiple shipped projects where you were the primary contributor
• Experience collaborating with product, design, marketing and engineering.
• Strong storytelling skills.
• Startup experience a plus
• A portfolio of visual design work including branding, illustration and motion design
• At least 6+ years of relevant professional experience.

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $202,500 - USD $247,500

Zone B: USD $192,400 - USD $235,200

Zone C: USD $182,300 - USD $222,800

Zone D: USD $172,200 - USD $210,400
