GENERAL SUMMARY: The Human Resources (HR) Generalist provides human resources consulting, services, and support to ensure a highly productive, motivated, trained, and professional workforce. This position assists the Chief Human Resources Officer in strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of procedures and programs. The HR Generalist recommends and implements management actions to meet business needs while supporting the firm's commitment to employees and maintaining legal compliance, and also manages several HR functions including, but not limited to, employment, compensation, training, employee relations, performance management, and employee services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide staffing support for hiring managers that includes workforce planning, assisting in selection and placement, preparation of job descriptions, and facilitating the process. Consult with managers on the selection and placement of employees in positions that make effective use of their qualifications, develop them for future responsibility, and will serve in the firm's best interest.
- Develop and implement management training programs to ensure firm managers are properly skilled in general management and in firm policies and procedures.
- Develop and consult with the Chief Human Resources Officer on a variety of projects including program design, analysis, budgeting, implementation of new programs, manager and employee education, and public relations for the HR Department within the firm.
- Lead managers in assessing training needs and identifying opportunities for employee development. Determine appropriate strategies to achieve the identified needs through innovative, progressive, and effective programs.
- Administer firm personnel policies, including developing new policies, updating the employee guide, and suggesting changes to existing policies.
- Work with HRIS and IT staff to ensure the HRIS software system meets the firm's needs and is updated to reflect changes to salary structures, bonus programs, etc.
- Provide high level "hands on" consulting and coaching to senior level management in a variety of HR-related areas including, but not limited to, organizational conflict, problem resolution, employee performance issues, coaching tools and fundamentals, retention strategies, and process surrounding separations.
- Manage firm-wide performance management system for non-legal staff. Ensure high effective rating and coach managers in employee performance review meetings.
- Provide compensation and benefit services, which includes competitive salary administration (market pricing and internal equity reviews) and progressive bonus programs to attract and retain workforce demographics.
- Research and develop programs that are conducive to team development across the departments and the firm. Implement employee programs to further develop employee/firm relationships.
- Administer firm-wide bank of job descriptions, including working with managers to develop new descriptions and ensuring existing descriptions remain up-to-date.
- Manage projects such as survey participation and analysis, work authorizations and applications for permanent residency for foreign workers, responses to requests from various unemployment agencies, employment verifications, corporate compliance reports, etc.
- Conduct internal fact findings and investigations, including completing proper documentation and interaction with outside employment counsel.
