Human Resources Generalist – CPA Firm

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Objectives:
• Work with and report to the COO.
• Assist in increasing firm staff retention, productivity, utilization and morale.
• Contribute to overall firm performance, profitability and growth.
• Help firm provide the best possible work environment and career growth opportunities for ours staff.
• Assist in sustaining and further building the FIRM culture mission and core values.
Essential HR Functions:
• Provide HR support to partners, managers and employees regarding employee matters, working closely with both to foster strong work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
• Support management in planning, implementing, communicating and administering human resources programs, policies and practices.
• Maintain an “Open Door Policy” to assist in the development of employee relations, morale and retention.
• Act as the firm’s liaison between staff and management.
• Plan and participate in firm morale and staff retention initiatives.
• Help integrate new firm members and acquired firms into FIRM culture.
Recruiting:
• Assist in the recruiting process.
• Handle all intern recruitment including on campus presence.
• Administering the culture index survey.
Employee Benefits:
• Administer employee benefits including processing and updating employee changes, annual paperwork, new hire onboarding, etc.
• Serve as the point of contact for employee inquiries on a variety of topics to include benefits, employee status changes, onboarding and exiting, and policy interpretation.
• Participate in employee benefits review and selection.
Personnel Files, Policies, Procedures and Compliance:
• Maintain employee handbook, update policies and procedures and forms.
• Oversee and enforce firm guidelines and policies as stated in the Firm Employee Handbook.
Training:
• Coordinate orientation and related training for new professional staff. Participates in new hire firm orientation regarding policies and procedures.
• Conduct training regarding Harassment and other issues to be determined.
• Responsible for Checkpoint Learning and the monitoring and tracking of the curriculum professional development goals and CPE requirements on a per staff person basis.
• Serve as point of approval for training scheduling conflicts.
:
• Work with COO to maintain and update standard job descriptions and position specifications for professional and administrative staff; ensure annual review of job descriptions and position specifications.
Education and Experience Required:
• Associates degree in Human Resources or related field required. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years prior Human Resources experience in a professional environment.
• PHR or SHRM-CP Certification a plus.
• Knowledge of commonly used HR concepts, practices and laws.
• Ability to set and manage priorities. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and multi-task a variable workload with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
