Job Description

Human Resources Assistant-Remote | FT-PT


Saybrook University is excited to begin the search for anHR Assistant!This hybrid position will split time between working remotely from home and the Pasadena, CA campus, with occasional attendance at events in the Southern California area (2X per year). This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Business Operations and works closely with other members of the HR team.


Position Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To


  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Update org charts and
  • Maintain filling and reporting utilizing HRIS database (Workday).
  • Thorough knowledge of the physical and virtual campus, available resources, employee handbook, programs, policies, and infrastructure.
  • Support the talent acquisition/recruiting function with various administrative tasks such as coordinating interviews, managing data in the HRIS, posting new positions on applicant tracking system, and tracking on-boarding tasks to ensure a smooth and timely experience.
  • Be a kind, helpful and supportive point of contact for internal and external inquiries such as employment verifications, form requests, and policy/procedure clarification.

Position Qualifications


  • Experience in nonprofit or higher-education setting highly desired.
  • Minimum of 2 years of human resources or administrative business operations experience or equivalent education.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work outside regular business hours including some nights and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Adobe products (Acrobat, Flash, Reader, etc.). Experience with Workday preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws highly desired.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
