The Healthcare System Executive (HSE) will be a dedicated, strategic account leader responsible for driving business growth, and establishing robust partnerships with Healthcare Systems and key designated accounts for Thermo Fisher Scientific's Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Oncology solutions in a specific geography. This role emphasizes strategic level engagement, partnership development, and driven market penetration in the Oncology testing space.

This person can be located in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina and will cover the Southeast territory.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to enhance the utilization of Thermo Fisher Scientific next generation sequencing oncology portfolio within large healthcare systems, regional hospitals, and academic medical centers.
  • Collaboration skills, with experience in working within a matrixed team environment.
  • Demonstrated scientific consulting competence and technical credibility to lead a consultative sales process.
  • Sales savvy, with the ability to establish relationships and focus on project needs and workflows.
  • Understand and navigate the competitive landscape of oncology testing market to develop strategies for penetrating competitive labs.
  • Be responsible for the tactical plan to implement and drive new next generation sequencing placements within the assigned customer portfolio, working closely with Oncology Precision Medicine team and internal commercial partners.
  • Engage in scientific consulting, demonstrating the ability to advise customers on their testing needs, promote current advances in protocols, assays, and capabilities, and effectively represent Thermo Fisher Scientific’s next generation sequencing Oncology portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), cultivating advocacy to drive sales and market growth.
  • Proven track record to develop and implement strategies that increase product utilization within clinical customers and healthcare systems.
  • Develop and implement strategies to communicate the value of next generation sequencing Oncology testing to stakeholders within target organizations, aligning our mission and goals with those of the healthcare systems.
  • Participate in district meetings for training purposes, product information updates, and sharing field intelligence information, providing guidance and assistance for the growth and development of the sales team as needed.
  • Deep understanding of the healthcare systems, hospitals, laboratory providers, payers, key players, influencers in the medical community, and dynamics of healthcare delivery as it relates to creating open reimbursement access for laboratory developed testing.
  • Develop accurate forecasting for instrument and consumable purchases through thorough territory planning and commercial execution.
  • Persuasively articulate the clinical and economic case for NGS Oncology testing at the highest executive levels within healthcare institutions, demonstrating a solid understanding of healthcare delivery dynamics.
  • Identify and drive new opportunities for growth at current Healthcare system accounts (e.g., menu expansion), while working in close collaboration with the Oncology Precision Medicine team.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business (or healthcare related field) - required
  • A detailed understanding of the complexities of healthcare delivery systems and a detailed understanding of healthcare finance/accounting and provider/payer economics.
  • Consistent track record to work effectively and in a matrix environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Must have superior listening skills, a genuine focus on customers, and demonstrated ability to engage and influence customers at the executive level.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skills
  • Around 50% of time travel
  • 5+ years successful experience in healthcare, or medical diagnostic sales– required.
  • Effectively strategize both independently and collaboratively to develop plans to increase pull through sales with individual hospitals and IDNs.
  • Proven track record in dealing with highly ambiguous problems, taking full control and responsibility for and driving simple solutions to complex problems.
