Job Description

Duties

Major Duties Include (but not limited to):

  • Answering and directing phone calls.
  • Maintaining files and records.
  • Using a computer to perform administrative duties.
  • Using techniques to appropriately de-escalate disruptive patients.
  • Scheduling patient appointments, tests, and procedures.
  • Performing blood glucose testing.
  • Setting up patient examination rooms while adhering to infection control procedures.
  • Orthotic & Prosthetic Fabrication.
  • Assist Orthotist Prosthetist with patient care
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 40 hours per week, tour of duty will be determined upon selection.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying supplies and equipment and other items. The work requires above average agility and dexterity. The work may require assistance in moving or in lifting wheelchair patients.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR): Applicants must meet IOR to be further considered.
Specialized Experience: Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Specialized experience includes:
1) Perform reception duties by assisting visitors to the office.
2) Perform simple treatment procedures such as changing sterile dressings, applying slings or bandages, taking and recording vital signs.
3) Instruct patients and families the requirements of home self-care for injuries or ailments.
4) Observe patients and reporting changes in condition (deviation in color, pulse, respiration, temperature, and blood pressure).
5) Interview patients to document complaint, medical history, and personnel information, placing information into electronic patient medical records.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
