POSITION PURPOSE:
The Mental Health Technician (MHT) is responsible of the observation and reporting of clients in the mental health residential setting. The MHT will also maintain the day to day operations of the facility for the scheduled shift.
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION
- Developing a weekly structure for the clients.
- Facilitating communication with ancillary services.
- Reporting personal symptoms of suspected illness or contagious diseases to the Program Nurse.
- Providing a safe, therapeutic environment for staff and clients.
- Utilizing the company van for transportation of clients.
- Completing and forwarding copy of Incident Reports and any other safety/risk issues immediately to the Director.
- Providing a daily report on the hourly rounds made that shift to staff and sending out via email.
- Observes and reports the day-to-day activities of all clients.
- Conducting Waived Tests.
- Following Infection Control Guidelines at all times.
- Instructing and confirming the company’s rules and regulations to new admissions.
- Orientating new clients to the facility.
- Being sensitive to Cultural Issues of a patient based on their job position.
- Any other duties assigned by Supervisors and/or CEO.
- Building positive relationships with all staff members.
- Developing a daily structure for clients.
- Facilitating client’s rules and responsibilities and reporting noncompliance to the Supervisor.
- Reporting Suicidality/Homicide of a patient based to their job position.
- Demonstrating adaptability and flexibility to changes in the work environment.
- Transporting clients to and from appointments and meetings, when necessary.
- Evaluating quality of program on an ongoing basis.

Requirements:POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION:
- MUST be able to pass a Level 2 Background
- Graduation from High School or GED
2. EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 1-year experience in Mental Health required.
3. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- Current and valid Florida Driver License. Current CPR certification and First Aid.
4. SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Alcohol and addictive drugs and their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on the individual.
- Knowledge and competency in problem solving, stress management, ethics and team building.
- Alcohol and addictive drugs and their impact on the family.
- Ability to interact with a multi-disciplinary team to assist in facets of the recovery program relating to physical health.

- Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs that includes;
- Discrimination
- Knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.
WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT
- ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Potential exposure to airborne/blood-borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.
- Position is required to work in a temperature-controlled environment; 80% - 90% of the time spent indoors.
- Potential exposure to violent situations.
2. SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO POSITION:
- Bi-weekly MHT staff meetings provided by Supervisor, Director of Operations, Clinical Director and/or COO/CEO.
