What Gather Is Building And Why

Gather let you have all of your data at your fingertips, just like your photos are today. Gather's app enables you to download your data from across the internet, create visualizations, and share your findings with others.

Gather is building towards a future in which users take their rightful place in the center of the data ecosystem. Users will exert their influence not only over their own data, but also over entities that wish to operate on their data.

Because of Gather, entire new generations of apps will emerge, consumers will never feel "locked into" a service/company, and users will gain a substantial share of the data economy.

The product we are building is unlike one that has previously existed, so we need a strong design leader with ingenuity and substantial consumer experience.

Position overview:

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial designer to lead the charge in creating Gather's product from scratch. You must understand the complexity involved in making an entirely new experience feel utterly intuitive. By being the first designer at Gather, you’ll also get to set the design direction for the entire company.

You will:

• Take a leading role in defining Gather’s visual identity
• Make the call as to when to employ contractors (and eventually fulltime team members) to scale quickly
• Develop wireframes and high-fidelity mockups to effectively communicate product ideas to the engineering team
• Ideate with the CEO, CPO, and CTO to develop new ways users can gain insights and value from their data
• Run user-testing sessions during product development and speak directly with users, developers, and brands

You should reach out if you:

• 5+ years of product design experience in a B2C environment
• Excel when it comes to verbally communicating design decisions
• Want to pitch radical ideas
• Have designed a product from scratch that was then shipped
• Enjoy advocating for the user
• Spend your down-time on Midjourney
