We are LEGOLAND California Resort - the place where FUN is built and memories are made. Across our Resort we have two fantastic LEGO themed Hotels, a Water Park, a SEA LIFE Aquarium, more than 60 rides and attractions, 20 food and beverage locations, and 14 retail stores – the opportunities here are endless!


About The Role


Responsible for daily operation and future planning of LEGOLAND Hotels operation, while delivering memorable experiences for our guests.


JOB SCOPE & PURPOSE


  • Supports Aramark by fostering synergies and developmental initiatives.
  • To ensure budget control for each department and support to Revenue Manager
  • Establish external business partnerships with agencies, suppliers and vendors and maintain contractual agreements for all services performed and agency staffing provided.
  • Own yealy and 5 year capital planning strategy of Hotels in partnetship with Senior Leadership
  • Responsible for guest experience oversight and leadership partnering with the Head of Guest Excellence
  • Oversees all aspects of Hotel Operations and ensures Guest Obsession through effective leadership, coaching and development of the hotels team.
  • Direct liaison with resort support departments through dotted line reporting relationships with key leaders from Retail, Security, Park Presentation, Entertainments and maintenance departments.
  • Decision making control in the absence of the Resort Operations Director


BUSINESS IMPACT/RESULTS


  • To exceed targets within company set-out formal audits, including Health & Safety, HR, Finance and Control, Operations.
  • Partake in Resort Duty Manager role and ensure Hotel service and business continuity plan is in place and followed
  • Identify and plan for business contingencies as required.
  • Provide analysis of guest feedback and levels of compensation, against predetermined parameters set by the Resort Operations Director
  • Heads of Hotels Operational Managers are required to adhere to, and maintain all policies relating to LEGOLAND California Resort. These controls include primary responsibility for the safeguarding Hotel revenues.
  • Responsible for relevant department budgets, preparing forecasts monthly and compile and submit annually, working closely with direct reports to bring budgets within frame.
  • Manage projects in line with all relevant legislation to ensure delivery on time and within the agreed budget.


CREATIVITY


  • Proactively seek to identify different methods of working and new products in order to maximise inefficiencies within the operation e.g., technology and continuous improvement
  • Continually review Hotels operations from a guest perspective, providing operational teams with accurate and timely feedback.
  • Suggest and demonstrate activities to increase the total revenue of the business.


COMMUNICATION


  • Establishes, communicates and champions core standards throughout all guest facing areas.
  • Directly responsible for all aspects of the daily Hotel operations, to ensure a continually superior Guest experience and standards of service and health and safety.
  • To ensure that the hotel is compliant with brand and company operating procedures
  • A system should be developed to ensure the Leadership is immediately informed of all feedback and the action orientated feedback is readily available for the senior team meeting each week.


DECISION MAKING & AUTONOMY


  • To ensure that the hotel operates effectively on a day-to-day basis, in line with company and brand standards, and that the appearance of the hotel creates a professional impression to guests and employees
  • Adhering to the company guidelines when recruiting team members and identifying those who are demonstrating Merlin values.
  • To be on duty / on call in the absence of the Resort Operations Director
  • In accordance with the company procedures to manage positive and poor performance to ensure maximum productivity, team member satisfaction and minimising labour turnover.


Applied Knowledge & Specialist Skills


  • To take an active role in the annual budgeting process
  • Ensure all hotel SOPs, Risk Assessments and training (generic and specific) is carried out, reviewed, updated and recorded
  • To review all business processes objectively and make recommendations to the Resort Operations Director
  • Develop a full working knowledge of the hotel Profit & Loss accounting
  • Maintain a high level of competitor awareness and local trends


MANAGING RESOURCES


  • Ensure all employees receive regular training to update their skills and knowledge and meet their own personal development needs.
  • To proactively monitor employee performance throughout the hotel, advising and coaching line managers as necessary to ensure appropriate actions are taken to redress any poor performance, and to recognise superior performance
  • Ensure team and departmental costs are kept within the agreed budget.
  • Ensure all hotel standard operating procedures, Risk Assessments and training (generic and specific) is carried out, reviewed, updated and recorded
  • Establish and promote an environment which encourages input, initiative and creative approaches through coaching, review, target setting, feedback and team area ownership.
  • Manage wages and stock holdings.
  • Drive departmental training plans and evaluate to ensure that the training is relevant and achieves the required outcome.
  • To develop a cohesive and trained team who are able to provide superior guest service and budget control.


COMPLEXITY & PROBLEM SOLVING


  • To make recommendations to achieve best utilisation of payroll budget and to introduce ways to increase employee flexibility, stability, motivation, and ensure effective use of the resources available.
  • To manager relationships throughout the business and challenge conflict and assist managers in establishing the culture in accordance with The Merlin Way


HEALTH & SAFETY


  • You are responsible for all aspects of Health, Safety & Security within your team, in line with the Group Policy (HS001).In particular, you must ensure that risk assessments have been carried out, that safe working procedures are in place for all work activities and that all employees you are responsible for are aware of the Group Health, Safety and Security Policy and their obligations under it.You must ensure that safe working practices are monitored and that risk assessments and procedures are reviewed regularly.Where incidents do occur, you must ensure that they are investigated appropriately and that where necessary, corrective action is taken to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.


Compensation:


Compensation for the opportunity is $115,000-125,000
