Edthena - feedback for every teacher

Job Description
Edthena is looking for someone to join our team in a role focused on managing the engagement of our target audience of K-12 decision makers to educate them about our products and services. This person will need to be a product-focused communicator who makes data-driven decisions about what’s adding value to the prospective customer’s experience.

As a starting point, you must be able to understand and vet pedagogically-sound and cohesive messages for K-12 education decision makers. Direct experience as a K-12 classroom teacher or school/district admin is helpful, but it's not required if you can demonstrate the right content knowledge through other experience.

Yes, this role requires a strategic thinker, but we need someone who is also a doer. We seek someone who exhibits the ability to organize and manage multiple projects with variable timelines and who has experience utilizing tools/systems to communicate the status to others along the way. You are an experienced, tech-savvy professional with the ability to demonstrate strong writing skills and excellent grammar.

As a small company, there is often the need to be entrepreneurial and experiment with limited resources. We often must adjust course as we learn more information, so comfort with ambiguity in a job context is a must since sometimes experiments won’t work. You will be given ownership and responsibility — you will be the “marketing department.” You should have evidence of self-managing, perform well under deadlines, and be detail-oriented both in task management and end-product. You'll have the opportunity to help shape the role itself in order to maximize your impact as you go.

A bit more in the weeds… (aka the responsibilities)

You will be responsible for creating and executing our content marketing with the purpose of cultivating and activating our target audience of decision makers. This content will often be headed for our blog, but also includes other channels like our public site and our social media accounts. This could mean writing content directly. This could mean leveraging contributors. This does mean managing contractors to support content production, like a video editor. This does mean you will be responsible for reviewing your selected contributors’ work for quality and ensuring the content ultimately arrives at its destination in a published state on time.

You will be responsible for increasing our presence at conferences through earned speaking spots. This could mean sourcing opportunities for our existing partners and helping them write an application. This could mean managing consultant presenters who will make applications. This might mean, depending on your particular qualifications or experience, that you’re presenting at conferences.

You will be responsible for our evolving in-person events strategy related to these conferences. This could mean logistics to have local videographers capture a partner’s presentation. This often means on-the-ground planning for small happy hours meant to engage prospects who attend a session. This would also mean being able to travel to these in-person events. This would require a readiness to cultivate relationships with existing customers, potential customers, and industry professionals as a representative of our brand

You will be responsible for quantifying the impact of the various efforts we are undertaking to reach our audience. This could mean that when you uncover a new channel through your experimentation, you will set up the metric tracking plan to determine ROI. This does mean you will analyze and make strategic decisions using these data.

About Edthena

Founded in 2011, Edthena is the award-winning maker of tools for teacher professional learning. For more than a decade, we've offered a Video Coaching platform, and in 2022 we announced a first-of-its-kind AI Coach platform that helps teachers work with a virtual, computerized coach. Our work has been featured in EdWeek, Forbes, edSurge, ISTE, and more.

We're currently in a phase of bringing AI Coach to market while sustaining the momentum we have with our Video Coaching platform. The effects of the pandemic on school districts has accelerated the need for feedback to teachers, so there's an urgency to help provide support to teachers to increase their sense of efficacy and help them sustain in their roles.

We're a small team that's accomplishing a lot. We are a fully remote team that still finds ways to feel collaborative and connected.

Requirements

Overarching any of the bullets we might write below, you must be personally motivated by our vision to ensure all teachers can access the support that they need to have the greatest impact with their students. It will be hard to be successful in this role or at this company without that personal commitment to our work.

  • 2+ years relevant experience related to growth marketing and content marketing
  • 2+ years K-12 education-sector experience to "know teaching" as a topic area
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills, highly organized with attention to detail
  • Experience with marketing tools like Google Analytics
  • Based in the US and legally authorized to work in the US

Bonus points:

  • Proficiency with WordPress and basic technical knowledge of HTML / web publishing
  • Experience in startups / small companies
  • Comfort producing multimedia for web in addition to written content (e.g. social share images)
  • You have an established K-12 audience or externally validated authority about K-12 space

Our unicorn candidate? A former K-12 educator who has spent time working on a growth marketing team for an early-stage B2B SaaS company and who can tell us about how they measured impact on lead generation and revenue growth with novel approaches.

Bottom line: We need someone who can execute successfully within the challenging marketing environment that is "selling to school districts" to successfully position our company as a leading solution provider for video-powered teacher professional development tools.
