Global Supply Chain & Logistics Director

Trimlite is a Private-Equity owned manufacturer of decorative door-lites, stile and rail doors and a wholesale distributor of doors, millwork and building material related products to the building trade. We are looking to fill our open position for a Director of Global Sourcing

Position Summary:

The Global Supply Chain & Logistics Director is responsible for building the sourcing organization, defining and implementing sourcing & procurement strategies, and leading the planner/buyer organization for North America and Asia.

General Responsibilities:

• Ensuring a healthy and safe workplace.
• Key Business Metrics include: PPV, Inventory Turns, DPO, Supplier On-Time Delivery, Supplier Quality
• Delivering continuous improvement and ensuring the correct key business metrics (KBM’s) are in place and met/exceeded to drive desired results.
• Assuming the Company Champion role for our 2023-2024 company-wide procurement consulting project.
• Assembling and maintaining high-performance teams in both North America and Asia.

Sourcing and Logistics:

• Develop strong sourcing contracts and support team purchasing decisions using historical and demand forecasting data.
• Develop and optimize a transportation strategy, including frequency, routes, and contracting.
• Develop and optimize strategic partnerships with suppliers, distributors, and customers, creating communication channels for critical information and operational improvements such as cross docking, direct shipping, and third-party logistics.
• Develop and implement a supplier scorecard process and leverage opportunities for cost savings, inventory reductions and concessions in contract negotiations in conjunction with the results generated from the supplier quality tracking tool in order to ensure continuous supplier conformance to product specification and drive supplier performance.

Inventory, Purchasing and Demand Planning:

• Maintain the flow of product through the prioritization and direction of buyer team members in order to ensure the timely issuance of purchase orders.
• Optimize inventory levels to support sales growth while limiting working capital requirements.
• Lead executive sales, inventory, and operational planning (S&OP) process and ensure cross-functional alignment with sales, marketing, supply chain and finance.
• Support product life cycle management, so that new and existing products can be optimally integrated into the supply chain and capacity management plan.
• Improve inventory levels via the demand forecasting process in order to maintain proper seasonal levels of A, B, C and D movers.
• Manage the order allocation process, accounting for all constraints in the supply chain, including all supplier lead times, manufacturing facility set up constraints, partner distribution center cubing requirements and other specific customer needs.

Quality Control

• Support Sales Managers and the Quality Assurance team in the execution and adherence of APQP principles prior to the release of purchase orders and sale of new products.
• In conjunction with the Quality Assurance team and third-party supply partners, define and enforce contractual supplier obligations and issue resolution processes for all unqualified purchased parts and an interim part acceptance plan with our suppliers.

Supply Chain Leadership

• Lead oversight and expected execution of all corporate KPI’s leveraging project linkage and ownership across teams and in summary form to senior management group. Success is measured by financial parameters achieved, integration of process across organization and staff development in conjunction with successful project completion.
• Set performance expectations and monitors performance of the supply chain team, maintains metrics and relays trends and other procurement information to peers.
• Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising supply chain and distribution center personnel.

Requirements:

Proven success leading growth-oriented mid-sized company’s sourcing function toward a more structured, efficient, and strategy-driven operating model.

• Previous negotiating, contracting, and/or sourcing experience, as well as an understanding of supplier capabilities and marketplace.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills.

• Experienced in ‘lean’ techniques.
• Experience dealing with high mix, low volume products sourced from Asia.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Effective and efficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Experience in the development, deployment and execution of procurement, demand forecasting, inventory planning, inventory control and distribution systems.
• Results-oriented and operates with a sense of urgency.
• Experience managing Asia-based supply chain team.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field such as Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or Logistics.
• CPIM Preferred
• At least 10+ years of experience managing others in global procurement and supply chain role within a distribution environment.
