- Managing and monitoring transportation costs against the department budget to ensure freight and fee spend is appropriately controlled
- Keeping detailed, organized records of shipments and associated documentation (including temperature data) and generating reports as needed or requested
- Performing duties in compliance with company policies and procedures, GxP and other pertinent regulations, as they pertain to your job responsibilities and Arcus’s corporate obligations
- Collaborating effectively with external vendor partners across all phases of the product lifecycle
- Participating in the investigation of errors or non-conformances, and preparing corrective and preventative action plans (CAPAs) in conjunction with QA and impacted departments
- Analyzing group performance data, and suggesting modifications and improvements accordingly
- Contributing feedback to the qualification of new vendor partners, and participating in the vendor governance process of established, approved vendors
- Verifying tariff codes and valuation applicable to Arcus products, as well as any commercial products utilized in Arcus sponsored trials
- Liaising and negotiating with key internal partners in Manufacturing, Regulatory, Quality, Finance, Legal, Clinical Operations and our Clinical Contracts & Outsourcing teams across all job levels and responsibilities
- Addressing any problems or complaints that may arise quickly and amicably
- Reviewing and evaluating temperature excursion data, and escalating issues to cross functional partners for product quality and project impact assessment
- Overseeing delivery timelines according to project and protocol milestones, while anticipating potential issues and working effectively to resolve them before they impact downstream activities
- Assessing shipper qualification and validation as required by studies
- Tracking and executing global bulk drug substance and drug product shipment requests in support of the Arcus Manufacturing organization
Qualifications:
- Great record keeping abilities and a customer-oriented approach
- Familiarity with quality management system technologies such as Veeva, Master Control or eDocs
- Candidates without this number of years working directly for a sponsor organization will not be considered
- Experience selecting and sourcing supply packaging components, and evaluating warehouse storage spaces
- Oncology experience is preferred
- Technical familiarity with common bulk and site order based shipping components (containers, temperature monitors, etc)
- Strong ability to organize, plan and prioritize tasks within a high volume, varied workload
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in global logistics, import/export, and project management in the clinical development phase of a biotech/pharma organization is required (with commercial experience as an added plus). Please note: Due to the highly industry specific nature of this role, candidates without experience in a biotech or pharma organization will not be considered.
- Extensive knowledge of regulations, laws and policies regarding regional trade requirements, including VAT payment and recovery
- A high degree of comfort working in an evolving environment where “optimal” is the objective but “done right” is the standard
- Working knowledge of the clinical drug development process and clinical trial methodology, and knowledge of ICH/GCP and regulatory guidelines/directives
- A flexible, enthusiastic, and highly motivated attitude
- High level of analytical and problem-solving skills
