Job Purpose

To support the Supply Chain teams across RES in acquiring, analysing, preparing and sharing 1) cost and pricing intelligence 2) market intelligence – technical & commercial 3) insights and market forecasts across wind, solar, storage and green hydrogen. This data is pivotal in terms of informed decision making.

While the positive demand for renewables grows exponentially our supply chains have been and remain under increasing pressure. In order to innovate to reduce costs and create sustainable growth RES needs to understand the volatile supply chain dynamics across commodities, supply & demand imbalances, inflationary pressures, associated margin pressures etc.

To win in this global market RES needs class leading market intelligence and the right supply chain relationships. This role will support the team in delivering a focused approach to analysis and sharing of such analysis working alongside the technology supply chain leads in solar, energy storage, wind and green hydrogen.

Job Summary

You will be responsible for:

  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of historical price information on our technology supply chain as part of the price database
  • Preparing analysis on such data, identifying trends, key risks for RES and working with others define mitigatory strategies for consideration by RES
  • Defining the core commodities and cost inputs that we wish to monitor globally and the optimal way to secure such data
  • Developing and maintaining an effective tracker to capture such commodity information
  • Supporting the forums to share such market intelligence across RES

Key Accountabilities

This is a key support role in the Group and the ability to collaborate and ensure the right data and the right supply chain relationships are fundamental to the ability to deliver RES targets. An inclusive approach must be adopted to secure the inputs to deliver a risk optimised strategy:

  • Developing and maintaining an effective tracker to capture such commodity information
  • Develop and support a forum to ensure the production of market intelligence on the storage, wind, solar sector to identify initiatives and assess delivery strategies of competitors. This role will support the technology supply chain leads for each of these technologies in sharing market intelligence
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of historical price information on our technology supply chain as part of the price database
  • Support the preparation of capex and opex forecasts for the global economic model
  • Support in the preparation of supply chain relationship management plans and monitoring of progress against such plans
  • Interact with third parties for the purposes of data gathering, developing ways to collaborate, and supporting negotiations
  • Support the process for capturing & updating market intelligence across the wind, solar & storage supply chain
  • Preparation of Senior Management reports on the above
  • Develop an understanding of the key cost influencers for our technology supply chain
  • With the Strategic Procurement Team define the core commodities and cost inputs that we wish to monitor globally and the optimal way to secure such data
  • Work seamlessly across regional boundaries with the wider procurement and RES teams

Knowledge

  • Some knowledge of the solar, wind or storage supply chain market dynamics
  • Capability to collect data and produce clear dashboards
  • Knowledge of the principles of supplier relationship management
  • Understanding of data modeling
  • Understanding of the electricity market
  • IT skills , power BI, excel

Experience

  • Experience in the renewable energy industry will be a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in running data analysis and developing data tools
  • Demonstrable track record of developing productive relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering or Mathematics, ideally at Masters level – or equivalent
