Summary:
A person at this level is responsible for emphasizing the team as leaders in concrete, management of field staff, implementation of Kent Companies safety manual, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specification, quality/workmanship, over multiple projects to ensure a safe and profitable project, while keeping a keen eye open for repeat business, and future opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in creating subcontractor scopes of work.
  • Support all field operations.
  • Work with crews to help promote positive encouragement, motivation, and leadership to help them grow within the company.
  • Understand and manage the strengths and weaknesses of field team members to maximize performance and efficiency.
  • Actively participate in recruiting and hiring of field supervision.
  • Manage the ExakTime process with the superintendents (ensure time is accurate and submitted on time every week).
  • Work with field superintendents to accommodate job site needs.
  • Develop a project logistics plan to include staging, pumping, and other general conditions items for each project.
  • Assist superintendents with weekly look-ahead schedules.
  • Facilitate safety meetings and root cause analysis.
  • Effectively manage, train, and mentor all superintendents and assistant superintendents.
  • Responsible for managing multiple jobs and multiple field superintendents.
  • Continually grow technical and administrative skills.
  • Monitor, support, and enforce Kent Companies’ safety policies and procedures.
  • Drive & motivate superintendents to deliver safe, profitable, and quality projects on or ahead of schedule.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the job budget.
  • Participate in creating and implementing quality control & quality assurance standards.
  • Participate in monthly financial planning & forecasting with the project manager and the operations manager.
  • Collaborate with the project manager and operations manager to resolve variances from established budgets and schedules.
  • Control and provide project progress to project management & operations manager.
  • Lead and develop the field team, in conjunction with the operations manager.
  • Interact with site safety representatives (SSRs) to review safety trends and inspection information monthly.
  • Effectively communicate with all team members.
  • Guide the professional development of superintendents & assistant superintendents.
  • Demonstrate Kent Companies' culture and core values daily.

Work Environment/Physical Demand:
This position requires daily driving to multiple jobs a day to supervise projects across the region. This position needs to be able to lift 80lbs.

Position type and expected hours of work:
This is a full-time position. Hours and schedule will fluctuate with the project(s). This position needs to be available as long as work is occurring on the jobsite.

Travel:
This position requires regular travel to local job locations in and around Austin. Day/Overnight travel to other regions will occur occasionally.

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of field coordination, or relevant commercial construction project experience
  • General problem-solving/conflict resolution skills.
  • Understand basic project financial information (monthly cost projections, labor cost reports, etc.)

Preferred Education and Experience:
10+ years of experience working in construction as a general contractor.
