DESCRIPTION

The General Manager of Distribution Center helps design a winning strategy for the company, oversees the directors and managers as they carry out the plan, measures the results of the strategy, and reports them to the company’s leadership. The GM is expected to find new areas for growth and improvement for each of the company's divisions or branches in accordance with the overall corporate strategy. He or she is expected to meet with the upper management on a regular basis and make suggestions for improvements or new directions. He or she is also expected to make sure the divisional managers have a clear reporting system to ensure information flow.

The GM will be responsible for overseeing a range of activities including business processes, supply chain, logistics, inventory, fulfillment, and distribution and ensuring quality practices throughout the operations. The position is charged with establishing and implementing metrics and standards by which operational performance is measured and evaluated. The strategy should optimize facility utilization, drive continuous improvement in all processes, and generate world-class customer satisfaction with exceptional product and service quality. The GM will be a visible model of leadership, managerial excellence, and integrity, and will be responsible for the following areas of the company’s supply chain:

  • Information Technology & EDI
  • Customer Care & Return Logistics
  • Order Management
  • Inventory Management
  • Warehousing & 3PL Management
  • Inbound Logistics
  • Outbound Distribution


CORE RESPONSIBILITES

  • Effectively oversee various departments such as Fulfillment & Order Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, Inventory and implement changes as necessary for a cleaner and effective operation.
  • Develop and implement the operations roadmap and optimize operational cost efficiency.
  • Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate fast improvements and ameliorate working relationships.
  • Develop ownership mentality of the company’s P&L and budgeting, as it relates to supply chain.
  • Develop and implement best practices to ensure world-class performance while improving the profitability of the operation.
  • Systematize, streamline and implement work flows and work processes across the entire organization to provide the visibility and metrics required to facilitate analysis of operations and ensure sustainable improvements in performance.
  • Perform financial analysis of the operational expenses.
  • Plan and Manage 3rd party logistics operations effectively to maximize the benefits for the company.
  • Work hand in hand with upper management on business needs and advise on decision backed up by fact and data that are key to company’s operations and improvement.
  • Understand current workflows and identify inefficiencies and propose resolutions.
  • Coach and develop teams by integrating coaching and feedback into daily activities. Provide regular, consistent, direct, fact-based, specific feedback to individuals to instill a strong sense of teamwork.
  • Develop and implement a business process optimization/rationalization plan to support current and future capacity requirements. The overall plan will include detailed analysis of existing facility and operations utilization.
  • Create and execute lean strategies to increase productivity, efficiency, and inventory turns while executing perfect quality.
  • Ensure all departments understand their respective roles and responsibilities; drive down sense of accountability and flexibility to all levels.
  • Implement programs to ensure attainment of business plan for growth and profit. Implement improved processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization. Implement productivity/quality metrics and incentive programs designed to minimize costs and enhance efficiency.
  • Lead the operations organization to assure customer satisfaction and retain competitive advantage.
  • Develop budgets, cost controls and obtain data regarding both internal and external business metrics.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Possesses the ability to creatively identify options to problem resolution and implementation methods.
  • Preferred minimum of 10 years of related experience with a successful track record of developing and coordinating multiple sites for a rapidly growing company.
  • Outstanding track record of driving operations to deliver results through developing significant improvements in costs and delivery.
  • Substantial experience in lean process development, inventory control, logistics, and distribution management.
  • The ability to quickly assess the operational efficiency of a organization and prioritize improvement processes.
  • Excellent verbal, written, analytical, negotiating, and interpersonal skills. Sound understanding of business law, legal contracts, and financial impact related to inventory, cash flow, and working capital.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills to manage terms, conditions, and other contracting requirements in managing corporate risk.
  • Superb ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Experience managing a team of senior operations professionals.
  • Experience in acquisitions planning, due diligence and integration required.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and produce results at a strategic level.
  • Experience with KPI reporting development and possess a continuous improvement mentality.
