THE ROLE: Under the direction of the Director of Distribution and Logistics AWS Americas, the Customer Distribution Center (CDC) Manager is responsible for meeting all objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost at Xylem’s west coast distribution center located in Fresno, CA. The Fresno CDC is the single US DC for all Laing products and distributes Water Systems and Vertical Turbine products for West Coast customers. Critical success factors for the role include driving a continuous improvement and safety culture, developing and empowering an engaged workforce, and leading with a passion to exceed customer expectations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Ensure staffing levels and efficiencies are sufficient to meet on time delivery goals and cost objectives.
- Direct and oversee the work of the Fresno, CA CDC team to meet all production and service goals for the various divisional product lines.
- Manage capital improvement budget and projects.
- Actively oversee the daily work load to optimize inbound and outbound volumes to maximize product availability and on time performance.
- Act as on site Environmental Health and Safety leader to ensure all corporate compliance requirements are met and represent site on weekly global EH&S calls.
- Drive a continuous improvement culture for the site. Ensure Point Kaizen goals are achieved each month.
- Ensure safety levels are maintained at the highest levels and that all EHS requirements remain in full compliance; work to resolve issues and mitigate risks.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the site physical inventory. Conduct oversight of annual physical inventories or cycle counting programs and drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase accuracy, minimize shrinkage and reduce variances.
- Partner with DC finance leader to develop annual operating budget; monitor site expenses; take action to meet or exceed financial commitments.
- Monitor DC target inventory levels and work directly with buyers to expedite shortages and develop actions plans for excess and obsolete inventory.
- Provide management oversight of the DRP process to ensure replenishment levels for finished goods are being maintained and are being moved efficiently.
- Oversee all local procurement and accounts payable processes to ensure an uninterrupted supply of packaging, components, and finished good materials.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience creating and implementing continuous improvement projects to reduce costs, improve efficiency or streamline processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Logistics, Operations or Supply Chain Management, or related field required
- Willingness to relocate for future opportunities
- Good communication skills and to interface with all levels of the company
- Strong project management and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively and implement solutions in a team environment
- An individual with proven results in improving core operating competencies
- Strong proficiency in utilizing WMS, WCS, LMS and ERP systems
- Experience with developing key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operations and financial objectives
- Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in distribution, procurement, manufacturing or supply chain
- Strong tactical operations management experience
- Advanced analytical skills with demonstrated use of MS Excel and Access.
SALARY:
The estimated salary range for this position is $88,500 - $159,500 per year plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
