Fitness Center Manager Jobs

The City of Blue Ash Recreation Center is seeking a highly motivated Fitness Center Manager to lead our fitness team and promote an environment that focuses on health, wellness, and community. This position is part-time permanent. Schedule is flexible, but will require occasional evenings and weekends, with an expectation of 25-30 hours a week.
Responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of the center, staff management and development as well as implementation and coordination of all fitness programming. To excel in this role, you must possess strong leadership abilities, attention to detail, and exceptional teamwork and interpersonal skills.
The Fitness Center at the Blue Ash Recreation Center houses a jogging/walking track, two exercise studios and a multi-level cardio and strength area. A variety of health and fitness related programming is also offered including group fitness classes and personal training.

• Designs, instructs, evaluates and develops a balanced program of health and fitness activities, classes, clinics, services to meet the diverse needs of the Blue Ash Recreation Center members and guests.
• Performs other job-related duties as directed by supervisor.
• Inspects and cleans fitness area and equipment on a scheduled periodic basis.
• Recruits, hires, trains, and schedules a team of fitness center staff, including personal trainers, fitness consultants, and fitness aides. Provides ongoing supervision and support to ensure that staff are equipped to deliver exceptional customer service to members.
• Teaches and provides proper instruction on the safe and effective use of weight training and cardiovascular equipment to members and guests.
• Leads and/or provides assistant with department sponsored events as required.
• Serves as a public figure to market and promote the Blue Ash Recreation Department.
• Submits necessary inventory and inspection reports along with requests for equipment repair, maintenance and/or replacement.
• Conducts regular staff meetings and performance reviews to ensure that staff are meeting performance expectations and to identify areas for improvement.
• Foster positive relationships with both members and staff to create a welcoming and supportive fitness community.
• Obtains and maintains a current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Contributes fitness expertise to special Blue Ash Recreation projects.
• Assists in the purchase and maintenance of fitness equipment.
• Enforces procedures and guidelines for fitness center members and guests.
• Collaborate with other areas and departments within the organization, such as marketing and operations, to ensure that the fitness center is aligned with the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in fitness.

• Experience in fitness and recreation required.
• Ability to perform some physical labor, and
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Good customer service and public relations skills.
• Experience in dealing with the public in a group setting.
• Good physical condition,
• Must have excellent knowledge of recreation and fitness,
• Obtain and maintain a current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Flexible work schedule,
• May be required to possess valid motor vehicle operator's license.
