Job Summary

The Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for executing the company’s monthly close process, preparation of internal and external financial reporting, and managing internal controls. This individual will oversee the preparation and review of the annual and quarterly financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and advise leadership on relevant accounting topics and their impact on the organization. The Financial Reporting Manager will review and approve certain key journal entries and account reconciliations and will also facilitate the Company’s external financial statement audit.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Special projects as assigned
• Support tax return preparation and planning initiatives, provide data and reports to external tax firm
• Administer and maintain the company’s chart of accounts and financial statement hierarchy
• Lead the monthly trial balance review process, working with other accounting teams to provide commentary on variances, and investigate any unusual balances
• Develop and enhance the company’s monthly intercompany elimination and consolidation entries
• Research and conclude on accounting for non-routine, complex transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP, including preparation of technical memorandums that frame the issues/questions, analysis, and conclusions
• Manage accounting processes for acquisition and divestiture activity, including preparation or review of settlement statements and business combination analysis
• Coordinate with external auditors and assist with requests and documentation
• Develop and manage internal controls and ongoing compliance, including development of risk control matrices and process narratives/flowcharts
• Conduct technical research on accounting issues and new accounting standards impacting the financial company’s financial statements
• Review certain quarterly and ad hoc journal entries and related account reconciliations
• Assist with the preparation of the monthly internal financial reporting pack
• Supervise the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements for all reporting entities, ensuring compliance with deadlines

Qualifications and Skills

• Capacity to work effectively with changing priorities and interruptions
• Strong analytical and organizational skills

• Curious and eager to learn
• Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel; experience with BI reporting tools (Spotfire, Power BI, etc.) a plus
• Excellent analytical and time management skills
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, consistently meets deadlines
• Self-starter with problem-solving ability and a willingness to take on new tasks
• 6-8 years of experience in E&P or a combination of public accounting and E&P
• Big Four public accounting experience is strongly preferred
• Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to bring order to unstructured problems
• Ability to communicate effectively across functional teams and drive the resolution of issues
• High attention to detail, actively seeks to improve processes

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Active CPA license
