Role: Director of Financial Reporting

Type: Full time (Direct hire)

Work locations: your choice of either office in League City, TX 77573 (or) Downtown Houston, TX (77002)

Work schedule: in-office, Mon-Fri – Fully Onsite.

Summary:

As a Director of Financial Reporting, you will support and lead high priority financial reporting initiatives. Experience in public auditing, participation in year-end closings, and the ability to effectively evaluate internal controls are needed to directly enhance organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement process improvements, and internal control enhancements to streamline financial reporting and strengthen the control environment.
• Oversee the quality and accuracy of responses to audit inquiries with the goal to reduce follow up requests.
• Prepare and analyze periodic financial statements and reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), and other applicable regulations.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate the timely completion of annual audits.
• Assess the effectiveness of the financial reporting procedures and identify areas of improvement.
• Apply public audit experience to assess internal controls, identify potential risks, and recommend improvements to ensure the integrity of financial reporting procedures.
• Ensure both accuracy and completeness of financial data.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of Financial Reporting experience within the Financial/Insurance industry that includes public audit and internal controls experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5-10 years of Accounting experience with progression into leadership responsibility
• CPA or similar certification is highly preferred (the ability to verify testing progress and/or active enrollment in courses toward certification will also be considered)
• Experience working for at least 1 of the Big 4 Accounting firms, on large audits with external auditors engaged.
