The Field Technician Supervisor (Tracking) will be responsible to safely and effectively manage the delivery of most aspects of project scope, to ensure safety, and planning field operations. In this role, the incumbent will also manage multiple crews, specialized vehicles/equipment, insures inventory on the trucks, building, material, the use of traffic control safety devices and special processes. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Internal and External Communication: Keep internal stakeholders informed of project activities, as well as risk and mitigation strategies. Ensure the Program/Project Manager is informed of project related updates, safety, production reports, project related issues/scope creep. May be required to interface with client operations and engineering groups during mobilizations.
- Staff Leadership: Work with leadership to hire, develop, support, supervise and coach multiple direct reports (field personnel). Execute the established training program for all field personnel. Ensure staff adhere to established policies, procedures (safety, operational, equipment care/use,), and stay in compliance with applicable regulations (such as DOT).
- Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be required based on organization needs
- Safety: To ensure that our team members adhere to all of the Xylem Safety training and protocols for each given task and have the necessary PPE to do so. Promotes a safety focused culture by carrying out programs such as documenting “ride along” with a crew each week and ensuring a regular touchpoint with every team member with daily safety talks. Additionally, to ensure compliance with client’s sites/facilities safety requirements.
- Quality Management: Responsible for effective quality assurance and quality control on all aspects of the project. Analyze project data, identify discrepancies, and develop and implement corrective actions.
- Scope Delivery: Understands the contract and the scope of the project. Works directly with project team to ensure the positive delivery of the scope, on schedule and under budget. Schedules and manages field staff in executing scope for the projects. When applicable, provides input during the proposal phase of projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills plus the ability to think laterally while offering creative solutions
- Flexibility and the ability to manage change
- Ability to mitigate the negative impact of equipment related issues, service, and breakdowns
- Proactive with a high level of attention to detail
- Ability to help build and deliver operational plans that meet strategic business goals
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, including conflict and issue resolution, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and work well as part of a team
- Traffic Control Certification
- Must hold a valid driver’s license have a clean driving record
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills in all interactions with staff, general public, clients, and contractors
- GIS literacy
- Ability to work logically and systematically, with good work time management
- Ability to pass DOT Physical, background check and drug screening
- GED or High School Diploma with both Energy pipelines and systems experience
- IT literacy and the ability to handle electronic data
- Efficient in Microsoft Office and standard asset tracking systems/software
- Previous management and leadership experience is considered an asset
- Proven Map Reading; understanding of As-Built Drawings
DAY IN THE LIFE:
In this role, the working environment is frequently outdoors and the Supervisor will spend up to 75% of their time in the field. The Supervisor will be required to work in varying weather conditions including high heat and extreme cold and will be required to lift up to 75lbs. In addition, this role may be required to travel up to 75% of the time to various field locations.
SALARY:
The estimated salary range for this position is $40/hr. - $45/hr. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
