Job Description
What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a highly-motivated engineer to contribute to implementing and sustaining Industrial Engineering principles to the total manufacturing process. Through a detailed understanding of the factory objectives and extensive collaboration with internal and external teams, you will help optimize our manufacturing and material flow process. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Tesla’s world class manufacturing facility in Texas.
What You’ll Do
  • Production equipment, conveyance, and human work measurement for operations and engineering stakeholders; utilizing these skills to optimize gross margin through capacity improvement and streamlining operations
  • Layout and space readiness initiatives for existing line optimization and new line installations, including 2D AutoCAD design and 3D Revit Modeling; merging new lines & products into existing and expanding factory footprint, designing 3D models in FlexSim
  • Project manage space readiness initiatives
  • High quality decision support through, primarily but not limited to, Excel analysis, discrete event simulation, linear programming, and other operations research methods
  • Support of structured problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Business case development for capital expense projects
What You’ll Bring
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience as an Industrial Engineer
  • Track record of excellence in current and prior roles
  • BS/MS in Industrial, Manufacturing, or equivalent engineering field, or evidence of exceptional ability
  • Experience as part of a project team prioritizing multiple continuous improvement projects
  • Experience analyzing/optimizing factory, production line, or warehouse designs
  • Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Competency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically high proficiency with Excel
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have experience/skills: 2D/3D layout in AutoCAD, Revit, Solidworks, lean manufacturing, work measurement, analytics (SQL, Tableau), discrete event simulation in FlexSim 3D, operations research, lean manufacturing, scale manufacturing experience
