Google's optical networking technology (ONT) team is the one-stop shop for Google Global Networking (GGN) optical transport needs. We provide global cloud connectivity by guiding photons across land and sea. Our mission is to deliver solutions that empower our partners to plan, build, and operate a reliable optical network. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $139,000-$208,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Design and develop simple control systems and network management tools.
• Engage with external vendors of submarine cable systems, optical equipment, and transceiver vendors to create scalable, and cost-effective solutions.
• Work with teams that specify the hardware, embedded software, and control/management software requirements for the platforms we consume.
• Support several Partner teams, including planning, design, engineering, and operations.
• Define and develop platforms and solutions for scaling Google’s global optical and packet network.
