Job Description

Position Summary

Our Charlotte office has an opportunity for an employment litigation associate to join the firm’s dynamic and long-established practice representing premier local and national employers. This is an excellent opportunity for associates who are proactive and passionate about taking a significant role in providing labor and employment law services. This role requires extensive contact with clients, governmental agencies, and opposing counsel.

Duties include, but are not limited to, performing legal research, drafting legal memos and pleadings, attending court conferences, handling discovery-related activities and investigations, drafting position statements and dispositive motions, and counseling clients on employment-law-related matters.

The right candidate will have a passion for employment law, strong analytical and writing skills, and an ability to relate to and inspire confidence with sophisticated business clients. Wage and hour and/or class or collective action experience is a plus. This is a great opportunity for the right lawyer to join a national employment law practice with a collaborative and team-oriented local office.

Our firm and office are collegial and culture-driven places, with a strong commitment to mutual respect in the workplace. We hold regular all-attorney in-person conferences throughout the country. We make attorney development a priority and provide ongoing writing, publishing, and speaking opportunities, as well as access to expansive professional development training programs and opportunities to work with the leading attorneys in this field.

We are fully committed to the importance of diversity within the legal profession and within our firm, as well as all workplace environments, and we strongly encourage the interest of diverse candidates in the firm.

Requirements

  • To support the health and safety of our teams and work spaces, we require employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or to have received an approved accommodation based on medical condition or sincerely held religious belief or practice, or as otherwise required by applicable law. Please let us know if you’d like to discuss the policy or available accommodations before proceeding with our recruitment process.
  • 2+ years of experience in employment litigation, other litigation, or judicial clerkship is strongly preferred.
  • Juris Doctor. Qualified candidates must be and remain licensed to practice law and in good standing in North Carolina. During employment, employees must meet the requirements for continued licensure for law practice.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills are required.

Please note, we are not working with outside recruiters for this position.
