General Description


The Employee Relations Manager will report directly to the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources. This position will oversee all employee relations activities, policies, processes, and procedures. This position will set the strategy for employee relations and support managers in handling workplace concerns and action plans. This person will provide intervention as necessary. This role will work extensively with management to identify opportunities to proactively and preventatively address common employee relations issues, and will provide guidance and coaching to managers of all levels to address employee behavior and performance areas. Position will also perform investigations as warranted.


Roles & Responsibilities


  • Partner in providing direction and guidance, assigning tasks, prioritizing activities, and setting goals within the team.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Develop effective relationships with stakeholders to promote positive employee relations throughout the organization to ensure a high level of employee satisfaction and engagement.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to adapt with changing priorities.
  • Drive consistency in employee relations issues and ensure the organizations approach to investigations is thorough, fair and consistent.
  • Analyze employee relations trends with leadership and advise on proactive strategies, solutions, programs and policies.
  • Partner with Legal team in conducting investigations to provide counsel and facilitate prompt and effective resolution of workplace concerns.
  • Maintain a positive, productive work environment by responding to questions and concerns, proactively addressing issues, and advising the team on best practices.
  • Create and update policies and procedures that pertain to employee relations; conduct trainings on compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze and understand data and information quickly, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Conduct a range of employee relations investigations in response to employee concerns, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.


PERFORMANCE STANDARDS


  • Ensure work is in compliance with Department of Labor (DOL), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Federal, State and local regulations and laws.
  • Ensure complete confidentiality of all personnel and Broadlawns Medical Center information.
  • Adhere to service excellence standards at all times.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; must be an articulate and persuasive communicator.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, and statutes which govern employment policies and practices.
  • Management related experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or a minimum of 5 years of experience in employee relations, investigations and employment law.
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issue.
  • Thorough understanding and application of internal and external Human Resource principles, concepts, practices and standards.
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks, and work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Knowledge of ERISA rules and regulations.
  • Master’s Degree
  • Notary Public

I understand that I will be responsible for providing BMC proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps, rubella) immunity and/or immunization records at my expense prior to beginning my employment.
