We are looking for an experienced site merchandising manager who is passionate about products and creating a compelling user experience. You will have a real impact on shaping merchandising strategy and influencing user behavior to drive customer growth, satisfaction, and revenue. You will work with a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, retailers, marketers and engineers, inventing and iterating on an effective merchandising strategy that delights customers. You will make it easy for our users to discover great products that lead to serendipitous exploration of our inventory and become satisfied customers.
You’re a highly skilled product enthusiast with a proven ability to strategize the full merchandising experience including product curation, placement, promotion, recommendations, personalization, and content. You should be a confident leader who has experience guiding cross-functional teams in the successful merchandising of products on ecommerce platforms that drive traffic, engagement, transactions and loyalty.
Responsibilities
- Identify and execute upon opportunities for optimization of site search, product data, design, product sorting, filters/facets, product recommendations, product placement, up-sells/cross-sells, product taxonomy, user personalization and content strategies.
- Track and analyze customer needs based on customer behaviors including searching, browsing and purchasing, identifying problems and opportunities and responding accordingly, engaging the cross-functional team where necessary
- Review and conduct research, competitive analysis, customer feedback, market sizing, technology assessment and modeling
- Work with retail teams to identify new product opportunities and assist the launch process
- Plan and analyze A/B tests to see what customers react to better in regard to homepage, product placement, messaging, sorts etc.its
- Advocate for the customers, always focusing on their needs and potential benefits
- Plan and execute a site merchandising calendar in collaboration with the retail and marketing teams including email and push programs, new product launches, cross-category placements, develop and execute targeted and site-wide events, search and recommendation algorithms.
- Create a content plan that incorporates SEO best practices and that will drive traffic, engagement, transactions, and loyalty
- Utilize data-driven analysis, establish KPIs and collaborate with cross-functional partners to inform decision-making processes and performance reporting and drive revenue and conversion.
- Ideate and implement new and optimize existing emails, collection pages, evergreen content, and campaigns in coordination with the marketing team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute promotions, campaigns, and onsite merchandising tactics that drive conversion and revenue growth.Monitor the competitive landscape and industry trends to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Develop a deep understanding of and empathy for our consumers, their shopping behavior, and post transaction expectations
- Proactively monitor and communicate performance and conversion of products launched and how they can be optimized on an ongoing basis
- Own the development of onsite merchandising strategies and their day-to-day execution.
- Regularly develop, test and analyze new merchandising tactics that sell products across all categories and increase revenue, documenting the results and sharing best practices with the team.
- Assess, adopt, integrate, and use generative AI services to create compelling SEO-friendly content
- Conduct regular analysis of sales performance, customer behavior, and market trends to optimize product assortment and improve customer experience.
- Ability to collaborate and influence different teams including product, engineering, retail, design, marketing, finance, data science, etc.
- Proven experience (2+ years) in e-commerce merchandising preferably in a retail or consumer goods environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Marketing, Business, Design, or other relevant degree.
- Experience working with Content Management systems, Web Analytics Tools, especially GA, and an understanding of trends and technologies within E-commerce.
- Passionate about customer experience and user experience design
- Good product sensibility and ability to merchandise sites in a visually appealing way
- Ability to translate merchandising needs into technical and business requirements, understand technology dependencies, and discuss technical trade-offs
- Ability to contribute consistently and positively in a high-paced, fast-changing and sometimes unpredictable work environment
- Data-informed mindset and proven ability to use data to explore all aspects of a problem and analyze solutions, familiar with A/B experimentation methods and hypothesis-driven product development and personalization tools
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and how to optimize website content for search engines
- Exceptional writing and editing skills combined with strong presentation and public speaking skills
- Ability to communicate with Senior Management, business users and technical developers
- Fluency in Chinese Language
- Demonstrated leadership working at the intersection of UX and data science.
