Description

Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, is seeking a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Program Manager. The DEI Program Manager leads the creation, implementation, evaluation, and reporting of DEI programs and initiatives. This role requires an innovative manager who can think outside of the box. The DEI Program Manager works with the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer to achieve goals.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Investigates best practices for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Works collaboratively with the marketing team to assist in preparation of diversity, equity, and inclusion related communications.
  • Responsible for the logistics and notes of the DEI council and sub-groups.
  • Helps ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion is embedded within and across the firm.
  • Conducts DEI research and helps develop DEI training.
  • Assists in the preparation of regular updates to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion program status.
  • Analyzes DEI data to inform future program enhancements.
  • Owns the annual development, writing, and publication of our DEI report, in close partnership with the marketing team.
  • Drives the development, program management and execution of cultural competency events.
  • Identifies and attends diversity, equity and inclusion related outreach events, conferences, and professional association meetings.
  • Manages the development, administration, communication and reporting of the firm’s diversity, equity and inclusion program, business activities, policies, and procedures. Makes recommendations to Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer.
  • Maintains DEI intranet and external web pages.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to the success of the team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Project management and DEI program management experience.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area of specialization. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience.

Travel requirement: On occasion
