Disability Nurse Team Lead – Remote
Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Disability Nurse Team Lead!
- Perform clinical review of medical records and/or other documentation to determine substantiated diagnoses and resulting restrictions/limitations supported by the medical record and provide comment on expected duration
- Collaborate with Sr. Nurse Consultants on formalizing education modules for claim case managers on clinical topics and serve as a mentor
- Proactively contact healthcare providers to obtain additional information and insight into the specifics of a condition(s) under review and for consideration in clinical opinion to aid in claim management
- Independently create and administer coaching/mentoring programs for the Clinical team as a subject matter expert
- Assist manager with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding to ensure staffing levels are aligned with business needs and department metrics
- Conduct quality assurance reviews to identify trends. Provide feedback and corrective action recommendations to management
- Assist manager with performance accountability tasks as needed

Salary Range: $80,500 – $134,200 plus eligibility for annual bonus program
- Active RN license(s) required
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) or equivalent combination of education and work experience required
- Self-motivated and driven to meet/exceed goals
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Previous clinical experience in disability/absence management, occupational health, psychiatric nursing in a disability management setting required
- Works effectively independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel
- Adept presentation and training skills
- Excels at identifying data trends, root causes of performance issues and recommending remediation
- Five years of direct clinical care required in an acute care setting required
- Demonstrated prior experience mentoring, training, and educating others as a subject matter expert
- Prior insurance industry experience highly preferred
- Phenomenal customer service and collaboration skills
- Great multi-tasking, time management and prioritization skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Certification in case management, rehabilitation nursing or a related specialty is highly preferred
