Title: SCPP – Platform Team Lead – GG-2210-13
Body: National Air and Space Intelligence Center is (NASIC) is the national source for air, space, and cyberspace intelligence. By working with us, you’ll help discover and characterize the capabilities, limitations, and vulnerabilities of our nation’s enemies. As a NASIC employee, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of experts, working together to solve technical challenges. The organizational location of this position: Platform Services Branch (SCPP), Special Mission Division (SCP); Communication & Information Directorate (SC), National Air & Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) (HAF A2/A6); Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio
Primary purpose of this position: To serve as the Platform Kubernetes Team Lead and Subject Matter Expert (SME) overseeing team’s efforts to build reliable platforms to allow NASIC and DoD Intelligence Community Agencies to utilize software in a secure environment.

You must be a US citizen to be eligible for a position at NASIC, and you must be able/willing to obtain/maintain a Top Secret security clearance. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed upon hire.
Responsibilities
- Incumbent will provide oversight and guidance to all technical development efforts and oversee work of team members. Incumbent will create and maintain short and long-term goals for the team. Incumbent will also analyze and evaluate technical design requirements and lead efforts to consult with team members to determine the impact each new requirement would have current platform architecture.
- Incumbent will provide technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT systems.
- Incumbent will oversee platform user requirements, system documentation and troubleshooting. Troubleshoot applications within platform pipeline and ensure product owners and developers address appropriate problems or incidents.
- Incumbent will serve as the Kubernetes Team Lead and Subject Matter Expert (SME), to lead all efforts for the creation, implementation, and management of portable and extensible platforms. Incumbent will provide direction to all team members to include contractors and junior civilians.
Qualifications:
- Applicant must have hands-on expert level experience in command line UNIX/Linux environment OS and systems Engineering.
- Linux Shell scripting (e.g. BASH) experience is a must.
- Incumbent should have extensive experience with Linux and Container based environments.
- Incumbent must have an understanding of other technologies, such as Service Mesh and the Software Life Cycle and how to implement agile software releases in a secure Continuous Integration Continuous Development (CI/CD) pipeline.
- Incumbent must have experience with a wide range of IT operations and activities with expert knowledge of building, deploying, and maintaining cloud architected platforms.
- Incumbents should be skilled in communicating effectively with others, both orally and in writing; in working out solutions to problems or questions related to the work; writing clear and concise documents; and delivering written and/or verbal presentations for decision-making purposes.
- Ability to work in fast paced agile (SCRUM) team setting with minimal supervision.
Desired Skill Sets:
- 2+ years of experience using and deploying Kubernetes environments (Tanzu/Rancher/EKS).
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS), integration, testing, deployment workflows, automation, process development, and process changes.
- Software Defined Network and IaaS skills such as VSphere and NSX networking to support Kubernetes installation and administration.
- Automation via Terraform, Ansible, and other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling.
- Should have hands-on experience with Helm charts and helm charts-based deployments.
- Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Elastic Stack
- Should be proficient with CI/CD toolsets (GitLab, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Docker)
- Basic understanding of Service Mesh Istio
- Basic understanding of DISA STIGs, or TLS certificates
Desired Certifications:
- Cyber Security training Security+, CASP+, CISSP etc.
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or equivalent
Other significant facts pertaining to this position are:
1. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
2. Cybersecurity Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes Cybersecurity work as a paramount duty requirement. The incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.

Conditions of Employment:

· All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
· Position is designated special-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
· PCS expenses are not authorized IAW JTR and Air Force Regulations

· The work is primarily sedentary. Items carried typically include briefcases, notebooks, working papers, references, data print outs, and suitcases. A moderate amount of standing and walking is required in getting to and from meetings and
· The workspace is adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. There is occasional noise from office equipment, such as printers, fax machines, and telephones. The employee is required to perform in varying office and meeting environments.
· The incumbent observes normal safety precautions when working in and travelling away from the work site.
