The Director, Specialty Trade Operations is responsible for directing, monitoring, and enhancing specialty pharmacy, specialty distribution, and 3PL (Third Party Logistics)operations within Madrigal’s Market Access and Trade team. The Director manages distribution and dispensing operations across the channel to drive continuous improvement in patient access and adherence, while delivering a best-in-class patient and prescriber experience. The Director collaborates with key internal stakeholders including Patient Access,Marketing, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Legal, and the Market Access field team to identify patient access opportunities and implement impactful solutions. Additionally, the Directorengages external stakeholders and vendors (e.g. SP’s, 3PL vendor) in day-to-day program operations and analysis of key data and KPI’s to ensure contractual obligations are meeting/exceeding obligations. This position reports to the Executive Director, Trade and Specialty Distribution.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee operational plans, project budgets, expenses, and timelines
- Maintain SP program correspondence, scripting, and collateral via internal legal and regulatory approval processes
- Develop and implement the operational structure to support Madrigal’s specialty pharmacy network strategy in preparation for launch; closely monitor SP performance post-launch to ensure contractual obligations are meeting / exceeding obligations
- Consistently deliver outcomes with cross functional impact, tackle projects with increased complexity, and influencechange management to operations function across internal teams
- Lead the execution of 3PL (Third Party Logistics) distribution readiness in preparation for launch, and oversee post launch distribution and order-to-cash operations
- Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR’s) and other summits with specialty pharmacies, specialty distributors, and 3PL; prepare all materials, communicate expectations to vendors, and continuously drive performance while identifying key insights to incorporate into strategic planning efforts
- Acquire and maintain deep understanding of NASH disease state, resmetirom clinical data and commercialization strategy
- Conducts all activities in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations and company policies
- Responsible for leading the Madrigal relationship with third-party service vendors (requirement setting, sourcing and contracting, and ongoing performance management)
- Implement specialty pharmacy program services, enhancements, and operational efficiencies with the goal of positively impacting patient access, adherence, awareness, and affordability
- Create and maintain necessary policies, procedures, and business rules for all distribution programs
- Develop and communicate key messages to internal and external channel partners
- Collaborate closely with Consumer Marketing and Patient Access teams to enhance SP program to continuously meet the needs of HCP’s and patients
- Ensure the highest level of ethics, quality, and compliance by demonstrating in depth knowledge of laws that governmarket access and channel activities
- Consistently deliver measurable business outcomes based on program-level key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide timely program-level reporting to leadership
- Partner with internal operations and data analytics teams to continuously evaluate and analyze specialty pharmacyvendor performance relative to goals and objectives
Qualifications:
- Proficient in MS Office products including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
- Experience with pre-launch drugs and new product launches preferred
- Ability to develop insights from data trends to improve program performance
- Travel (approximately 20%)
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Business or Pharmacy preferred
- Excellent written, organizational, verbal, presentation, and communication skills a must
- Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team and in an environment of rapid change
- 5+ years of experience operationalizing specialty pharmacy programs and networks required
- 7 - 10 years of healthcare industry customer/vendor management experience strongly preferred
- 10+ years of related experience in the biopharma industry with a proven, consistent history of high performance in a broad range of leadership roles of increasing responsibilities
- Experience with Third Party Logistics and specialty distribution operations preferred
